Question about Honeywell Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

I have had a new honeywell humidifier installed. The problem is the control H8908B. HE INSTALLED IT FIRST TIME ON A DUCT RIGHT NEAR THE FURNACE AND IT FEEL OFF . Melted . Then came in and moved it away from the furnace but still on a heat vent and the same thing happened 2 days later. It appears that it should go on a return duct upsream from the humidifier. Can it also be mounted on a wall. By just felling the ducts when the furnace is on can I tell which is the return air duct ? Thanks for your time and as you can tell I am not very mecanical Jim Phelan

After the air leaves the fan ,this is called supply air ,before the air enter the fan which sucks air into the fan --- on the flter side --is called the return air!

Hello, if there is no water draining out of the humidifier than it is not working, The humidifier should turn on and off with the furnace, The best thing to do is have the humidifier tuned up by changing the water panel, making sure the there is voltage present the the solenoid valve, and making sure the water supply is getting to the solenoid valve. Let me know if you have any further questions I will be glad to assist you.

Honeywell HE260 leaks somewhere

Neither, even if the solenoid or humidistat stick, it should always drain properly. Is the unit mounted on the cold air return duct or the supply plenum? If it's mounted on the supply plenum, the water panel might be getting blown forward and spilling the water. High efficient furnaces also can leak water on the floor if its drain is restricted. If hum. is mounted on return duct make sure drain is clear by blowing through it. On Honeywell hum's I've seen the rubber hose from the solenoid valve to the distributor tray leak too, check the rubber 1/4" hose.

You may need to replace the valve that is wired to the furnace that controls the water flow

Wiring problem

Sounds like you may have put 120v through a 24v solenoid and humidistat.
Is the HUM terminal on the furnace 120v or 24v?
If it is a 120v terminal you will need a 120x24v transformer and a new solenoid and maybe a new humidistat.

Humidifier intermittently won't shut off with blower

THAT MODEL COMES WITH A BUILT-IN AIR FLOW SWITCH (IF I RECALL CORRECTLY) THAT CAN GO BAD ... IN THE OLD DAYS WE JUST POWERED THE HUMIDIFIER BY CONNECTING IT TO THE LOW SPEED (FOR HEAT) OF THE BLOWER MOTOR. HONEYWELL HAS HAD PROBLEMS WITH THEIR RESIDENTIAL AIR-FLO SWITCHES ON HUMIDIFIERS AND THEIR ELECTRONIC AIR CLEANERS. AND THEY ARE THE HIGHEST PRICED ON THE MARKET.
