Lcd tv has black cloudy line from top of screen about 1 inch wide and 4-5 inch long down the screen

This problem is not just for Philips. I've found similar complaints online for JVC, and my Vizio 32" LCD has the same problem. In my case the TV is about 3 years old and has a lot of hours on it.

Possible vertical output IC failure, which will cause the Picture tubes to shutdown but audio will still function. Try replaceing the vertical IC

I have a Philips 19" Lcd When i swithced it on everything was fine until about 5 seconds later the screen went black. I have found that if i switch the monitor off and then on it works ok until...

A 19" Philips LCD prefers a setting of 1440X900 if you are too far off this it will turn itself off.
Right click on the desktop, go to settings and set it to 1440X900 and then go to advanced and make sure the refresh rate is set to 60 Hertz. Shining a flashlight on the screen will help you see.

There other thing that might be causing this is the setting on the monitor itself. Press the Menu button on the LCD and adjust the brightness and contrast.

If all else fails, contact Philips. This is a premium brand and it comes witha 4 year warranty.

Turns off

Check the software and if it is not EJ30U_0.101.0.0 go to www.usasupport.com and put the firmware onto a USB stick. It will give you all the instruction on how to do it. If the set still turns off the problem is the SSB. Contact Philips @1-888-744-5477 and have your receipt to make sure the unit is under warranty and they will have a tech come out and fix the set.

You have sound but no picture. Green power light is on and NOT flashing. You get a screen flash or flicker on power-up or even a minute of screen before going all black. It is your inverter board. Common problem on LCDs (maybe more so on Phillips?). They are easy to replace (unplug-plug) and are available on the net.

Black screen with sound. Problem on every channel.

Sound no picture or shut down Power led starts green then a short amber then turns RED . If your power supply can be confirmed to be go you have a bad Inverter board. Per the manufacture this part comes only with the panel . Not cost effective . But if you go to
lcdparts.net you will locate an inverter for $ 169.99 . I had the same problem and the inverter repaired the set . Note there are similar error codes but from what I can see from all of your complaint I do be leave that your Inverter is bad . Good luk

Sorry Donna, Any thing that i would tell you to try, you would have to understand the lingo and the theroy in electronics. A TV set is no where to be to experiment with as they hold alot of HI voltage ,even when they are unplugged. If the setd over5 years old, Maybe its time for you to thinkl about buying a new one. Good Luck

HDMI quit working I use this tv for a PC monitor, HD satellite viewing, and XBOX 360. I was having intermittent problems with the HDMI audio bleeding in to the other inputs. Sometimes if for instance I turned on the PC, I could hear the audio from the HDMI output on the satellite receiver through the TV speakers. Other times, I might just hear a crackle in the audio when in PC mode. If I switched back and forth between HDMI and PC inputs a couple of times, both issues would go away. I tell this just as background to what happened next. Since I have my PC hooked to the VGA input on the TV, I have been forced to manually switch the HDMI input from the Satellite receiver to my XBOX 360. (Sorry, I was too cheap to buy the $100 switch). Anyway, I usuall make this switch hot (TV on, Satellite receiver on, but XBOX off. This system although a pain, was working until yesterday. I was watching HD satellite, when I decided to play XBOX. I switched the HDMI cable, but when I turned the XBOX on, it wouldn't start up. I immediately assumed my XBOX had crapped out , but when I switche the HDMI cable back to the satellite, the TV would not recognize the signal. I have since tried the XBOX and satellite on another tv with HDMI, and both still work fine. I am thinking that some sort of switch in the tv has gone out, but I don't know. Should I just junk this TV for a new 1080P? My problem with doing that is that I use PIP with the PC on one side, and HDMI on the other. This tv does that, but I can't find another tv that does.
