Question about Logitech X-540 Computer Speakers

Sudden crackles in the right surround speaker!

Bought the X-540 almost a month ago, and i had no problems until today. I was watching a movie, when all of a sudden (it coincided with loud cheers from the movie itself ) the right surround speaker started making these crackling sounds. There is no noise or anything when there is nothing playing, so i don't think it's the sound card (asus xonar dx, btw), so i'm guessing something's wrong with the speaker, cause the crackles aren't going away!
Please help!

Your speaker is busted. You will need to get another one. It really can not be repaired and if it can, it will cost more than a new speaker.

I'm not sure if your computer is a desktop computer or a laptop.
If it is a laptop, you may click on the matrix button to enable virtual surround on the remote.

If it is a desktop computer, you need to plug more than only the green cable. You need the black cable for the rear speakers and the orange for the center and subwoofer.

You may need to set the speaker to 5.1 in windows 7 in the control panel.
You can also just activate the matrix mode for stereo source like music.

Yes there has to be a configuration for the 5.4 surround sound... look if the hardware came with a CD to update the sound driver. or Check if the its correctly configured. on the control panel then click Sound, then depending what windows you have have to lookk for the configuration or properties area and configure as 5.0 or sorround etc.

I have a x-540 speaker system I brought today. Do I need a sound card to make it work with my pc. I hook it up/no sound.

A stereo computer system with resources to produce and record surround sound channels. Such surround sound channels are played or recorded using an audio card added to the computer system, which audio card controls additional speakers and/or microphones. Software for redirecting instructions from existing stereo application programs and sending these instructions to the existing audio device driver and the additional audio device driver is needed. Resources for processing the digital audio data for either extracting surround sound channels from two channel data provided by the application, or for encoding two sets of two channel audio data recorded by the two audio cards is also needed
