Question about JVC TH-S3 System

4 Answers

JVC TH-S3 I have a JVC TH-S3 set up for UK Region 2. In order to play my large collection of Region 1 DVDs I went online and found a site offering to provide a method of making the machine Region neutral for a fee. What I got for my money was a soldered device and an incomprehensible 10th generation photocopy of some fairly generic instructions. I followed the instructions and the device did indeed allow me to play Region 1 disks. However, it also reprogrammed the player in other ways. Now it refuses all instructions from the remote except volume up and down. I e-mailed the original provider of the soldered device whose response was to become defensive and pretty unhelpful. How can I restore all the original functions of the remote and still keep the machine Region Free?

Okay! It wasn't me. It was my son who went through this rigmarole when he gave it to me. He has no fear of such things ... sadly! Spare his further blushes and avoid him having to buy me a fresh machine. He thought he was being so smart.

I appreciate the advice, but how do go about restoring it to its original condition? Isn't this done via the very remote which isn't working?

Have you tried removing the dice itself to see if this resolves the issue?

Those steps that your son have taken before to unlock this player altered some control of this player liek what is happening now, so in order for you to restore the control back you need to put the player back to its original condition but there's a big possibility that it will again stop playing region 1 dvd, but you can try to unlokc iot again by using some special code that wont alter the cotrols of the player....

The company service center JVC TH-S3 can help you as there are codes to make it region free.and if u have entered any wrong codes it may have locked the device.so company service center help is much required.

as the company has all the necessary codes to make the device region free.they would also charge some negligible amount to give u that codes.
    thanks

service center is much advisable.as the wrong codes inserted several times makes the device corrupted.
    thanks.

I have a (jvc dvd digital cinema system th-s3). that will not play original dvds however it seems to play copies and cds just fine in fact all other functions work correctly. i have tried a lens cleaning...

I have the same system. I've had no trouble until a year ago, then the system got particular about when it wanted to play DVDs. I've also used lens cleaner to no avail. It plays some DVD's but plays all CD's and some copies. It has given me good service but cost me a lot of money. I hope there is a simple solution to this.

Playing DVDs

NoThese days most of the companies are producing Region 0/ALL DVDs If you can get them OR buy a dual region DVD i.e. Region 2/4 which can play on both the regions. Most of the DVDs produced in India are multiregions. Choice is yours now

Philips 7" DVD portable player

The PET702 will be a region 5 machine, whereas the UK DVDs are region 2.

DVD players from a particular region are designed to play only DVDs from the same region, due to copyright and distribution rights in each country or region.

However the PET702 can have the region protection removed by making it multi-region:

Switch on the PET702 and Open the tray.

Press SETUP button on the remote control, which will bring up the menu.

Highlight "PREFERENCES" and press OK.

Press [2], [5], [2], [3], [1], [5], [LEFT], [DOWN]

The screen will show: "Region Code: 2"
Press [1-6] to manually set the region OR [0] for multi-region.

Press [SETUP] to exit winksmiley.gif

You will now be able to play DVDs from anywhere in the world.

This is particularly useful, because region 1 DVDs from the US often come out when the movies are still in the cinemas over here. Region 1 DVDs can be bought perfectly legally by mail order or from the internet.

Help

HI,
it depends on whether the drive is multi-region ?
Some drives are region Set, i.e Region 1 ( NTSC-USA )
Region 2 ( UK PAL )
Most Players Are Region Set, To the country they are purchased in, you can sometimes set the player to become, multi-region, via various buttons on the remote or by the front panel.
I offer a service to unlock 99% of DVD Players, to play all or many regions.
We do have a charge for this Service.
Many Thanks mike @ Compurepair.
