Garmin nuvi we have a garmin nuvi and it will not aquire satalites and we cant enter an address,it just says no matches found and the maps are of outlines of britain and europe not a street map.please help its doin me head in

    I ahve the same problem with my 660 fw.
    it just keep saying aquire satellites.
    I have done the reset that delete user data but that doenst help. Does any one have the original rng file for this device and know how to reinstall the device please let me know

Thanks but we ware talking about waiting for several days without finding satellites, and it has never been out of the country either.

If a GPS gets a factory reset, powered off for months, or powered up again in a different country, it will eventually scan the sky for any satellite it can find, and then download a new almanac and ephemeris - which can take up to 12 minutes after it finds the first satellite. This is best done stationary, to minimize the doppler effect until a fix is acquired.

Every Garmin Nuvi has a map info screen. check to make sure your Garmin has maps
usually that screen is
Tools;
Settings;
map;
mapinfo (at the bottom)

or
Settings;
Map and Vehicle;

If it is greyed out or a blank screen then your garmin is missing its maps. otherwise, make sure the maps are checked and make sure you are searching in the right area. by default the Garmin will search within 50 miles of you.

When I try to spell states it goes right to no matches found on the 1st entry
After powering up the unit and selecting address, the unit displays, "In What State is the Address? and Spell State. When I press Spell State, it has No Matches Found. When I press Back and attempt to enter the first letter of any state, the unit displays "No Matches Found".

Garmin will not recognize destination
How are you entering it? You should go to "Where to?", "Address", then "Spell State/Province". Enter "On" and the unit should pull up "Ontario". Press this, then press "Spell City/Postal Code". Type "Ot" and the unit should pull up several cities, including "Ottawa, ON" Press this, then enter the rest of the address. Let me know if this helps.

download the map for your state and or region gaemin is the only gps that requies you to do this. tom tom is a better product and dosent require downloads

Cannot insert addresses!
Got it!! For those getting the "No Matches Found" headache. Here's the solution:1. Go to "Settings" 2. Go to "Map" 3. Go to "Map Info" 4. MAKE SURE that "City Navigator North America NT 2008" is CHECKED. It fixed the problem for me. Hopefully it will fix yours all the same. God Bless.
