My MDB6657 will keep running and won't stop unless stopped manually or open the door. If I then close the door, it will continue running. I've already replaced the control panel to no avail. Suggestions?

Re: Keeps running; won't stop
The control panel most likely has control over one or more relays that open or close depending on the programmed action.
The relay need not be the typical electromagnetic kind but could be solid state and produce the same results.
It sounds a lot like one of the relays has welded its contacts together (or shorted, in the case of a solid state device) so the control panel and settings no longer have dominion over its actions.
I'm not sure where to look in your machine though.
If you are lucky (well, while being unlucky) there may be a schematic on the housing of the machine that could give you some clues about the location of these control elements.

Try pushing on the door, to see if the stopping/restarting stops, I am guessing your door switch may be wore a bit, and maybe out of adjustment when closing. sometimes the mounting hardware slips out of place, and the door switch in not engaging enough to stay on.
Hi, Your problem appears to be in the door switch to the unit, when the unit is in use, it seeks the closed circuit from the door to continue to run. If the unit fails to sense the door closed for any reason, it will pause until the circuit is complete or you cancel the program. Double check the door switch within the door, if it sticks or the switch is faulty, replace it. Good Luck
The "Open" door sensor, isn't "Connecting" Unless it is close enough, IE: The door pushed in so that the sensor & activator are close enough to work., .The sensor has to be adjusted, or replaced if that's at all possible.
After reading a few of the other Haier models troubles, I pulled the unit out and tip it at 45 degrees backwards for around minute. Water pored from the back of the unit, once cleaned water up reinstalled unit and all seems to be back in working order.
If your dishwasher does not run or stops during a cycle Is the Start/Resume indicator flashing? Opening the door or interrupting the power stopped the cycle. Close the door and press START/RESUME. Does the Start/Resume indicator flash 3 times when you press START/RESUME? The dishwasher is waiting for you to open the door after the last cycle. Open and close the door, then press START/RESUME. Is the door closed tightly and latched? (NOTE: On models with a dual-digit display, the control displays “- -” during a cycle if it believes the door is not latched.) Is the right cycle selected? Refer to the “Cycle Selection Charts.” Is there power to the dishwasher? Has a household fuse blown, or has a circuit breaker tripped? Has the motor stopped due to an overload? The motor automatically resets itself within a few minutes. If it does not restart, call for service. Is the water shutoff valve (if installed) turned on? It is normal for certain cycles to repeatedly pause for several seconds during the main wash. If the dishwasher will not fill Check the overfill protection float that is able to move up and down freely? Press down to release. Let me know if any of these procedures helped you?
I am at the end of my tether. I have bought a new door latch for my Bosch SGS 43E02 GB45, so door now closes properly and have managed to stop the leak under the front left hand side of the machine. Howver it sounds as if it is constantly emptying. It does not go onto the new wash cycle just keeps pumping out the water. It did run a quick rinse yestreday but now is back to the constant emptying problem. Even when I open the door it still keeps running and staying on a emptying cycle despite there being no visible water left inside the machine. Please help!!
the lights will turn on briefly and the machine will start a diagnostic
cycle. You can press cancel or let the diagnostic cyle finish (1-2
minutes). You should now be able to run the dishwasher as normal.
the issue returns, you could have a problem with the heating circuit
(ie. element, thermostat or wiring). It rarely happens but it could
also be the door switch not engaging properly when the door is closed
(slightly bend the door latch down making sure it doesn't hit the door
when you close it).
