HI Motor malfunctions usually call for service by a professional. There are three main causes of motor failure: lack of lubrication, a defective motor switch, or worn or frozen bearings. A humming sound can be related to a burned-out motor or a defective switch. Check these trouble spots before you call a professional service person or take the motor to a repair shop. Here's how to check a dryer motor:
Step 1: Remove the back access panel. Then reach behind the drum, motor pulley, and idler arm pulley. If these areas are clogged with dirt and lint, undue strain on the motor may be causing the humming noise. Worn or broken belts can also cause a humming noise. Check the belts for wear and damage. If the belts look all right, you may be able to stop the noise by spraying them with fan belt dressing, available at automotive and hardware stores and home centers.
Step 2: Turn the dryer on. The noise you hear may be the whirl of the spinning drum, not the motor. Some noise is normal.
Step 3: Force a little 20-weight nondetergent motor oil (not all-purpose oil) around the ends of the motor shaft. This lubrication may stop the humming noise. If this doesn't solve the problem, remove the motor and take it to a professional service person.

Why is the upper sray arm is not working in kitchenaid model KUDR01TJ

There are 2 spray arms for the top rack. A small one on the dishwasher top and a bigger one attached to the bottom of the upper rack. Both get water feed from a flat tube that runs up the back wall of the dishwasher. Not much to the very top little arm--just check the spray holes for any food blockage and try to clean with a brush or tooth pick. The bigger arm on the bottom of the top rack gets its water feed through a hole about half way up the flat tube on the back wall. When you push the rack all the way in, it has to plug itself into that hole in the back wall. Check that plug in area and make sure nothing broke off that would keep it from making a good seal with the rack all the way in. All check all the holes in the spray arm for food blockages. On the very end of all spray arms is a main hole that is the drive hole to spin the spray arm. The water shoots out that hole and acts like a jet engine to push the arm around. Make sure those holes are clear.

It could be a motor or a pump issue. The dishwasher has a motor that attached to a pump which forces the water up into the sprayer arms and during the drain cycle, it pushes the water out of the dishwasher.
The motor (and pump) located beneath the dishwasher.
Check if motor spins. In case it spins, the problem is with the pump ,in case it doesn't spin it could be a motor problem or a motor and pump problem.

First of all: filter plate clean? Clean any locked hole.
1) Can you remove the upper spray-arm and verify if holes inside are locked by any residus. Clean the holes , and check if pure water come out when you fill the center hole with some water.
2) Switch on the dishwasher , coldest wash cycle dish-washer empty and without the upper spraying arm. Once you hear water streaming in, open the door and look if a little water fountain comes out from the center hole where the upper spraying arm was fixed. If not, this canalisation is blocked and should be cleaned. Try to continue the wash cycle, often the water pressure will clean itself this canal. Check also lower spray arm: it should be rotating a while and ejecting water thru its holes. If not, verify this canalisation as well.

3) Put the spraying arm again on its place, verify also the sealing else water pressure is going down and spraying will not turn and spray water.

4) Again, continu a wash cycle, open the door and look; upper arm should be rotating and some rays trown out.

Hopefully, this helps .

If not, pump pressure may be low; have a repair verify, can be that only brushes in the motor must be replaced, can be the pump worn out and to be replaced at all.

Dishwasher not cleaning dishes; water not coming out of top spray arm

You are right to go to the inlet filters. If they are clogged you would lose pressure, but not that much...The pressure pump is probably not outputting any longer. Locate it and see if it is moving freely.

Dishwasher isn't draining

Hello,

I read your problem. I don't think it is your pump. A lot of times this is just clogged drain hose, that goes to your garbage disposal. or at the bottom of your dishwasher there is a screen under the arm, that you would have to take off and clean that screen, that is built up with debris.

Hello,

It is possible your pump is burning out, meaning the barrings in it are waring, and that is why your hearing noise and of course it is a water pump, so if is not working or pumping and just running, it will make noise do to the fact is water is not running though it. Fist here is something to try, before you decide to replace the pump.

First check the drain hose that it has not gotten pinched anywhere. Then check it to see if it may be plugged with dirt and debris. If you have it hooked to a garbage disposal make sure that the hole into the garbage disposal is open.

If all of that checks out, then check the screen inside at the bottom of the dishwasher. Excessive food buildup will block the flow of the water into the pump.

If that is clear then you may need to remove the bottom rack, and the bottom spray arm. This will allow access into the pump. Some dishwashers have a diverter flap that opens to allow the water into the bottom impeller, which is the pump out impeller. Also check that the bottom impeller is in good shape and not deformed. The switch that operates the diverter flap can also go bad. You need to check that it can operate and that is does if power is applied to it. Thanks Mike

My top rack is not getting clean, it appears spray arm is not dispersing water, can it get clogged?

Yes it can get plugged. Any debris pumped up to the arm can get lodged into the tiny holes. Also, sometimes the arm itself becomes split along the joint between the lower and upper half. Remove the arm to inspect, clean, and repair/replace the arm if split. I fixed our Maytag spray arm when it split, by drilling a series of small holes along the split parts and sewing the thing back together with fairly fine copper wire. Still working great after a number of years. The small spray holes can be poked clean with a heavy needle and the arm vacuumed out. If after all this it still won't spray properly, the intake screen at the bottom of the lower spray arm tower may need to be cleaned as well. Remove components starting with the spray arm and work your way down, noting placement and orientation of each piece. Remove the screen, and soak it in hot water, detergent and white vinegar for an hour or so. Check all holes in the deck for any food plugging. Reassemble in reverse order and check the lower spray arm for plugging as well. Hope some of this helps!

Dishwasher does not clean well

If Rylee's above solutions do not fix your problem the filters may indeed be the problem. Start by removing the lower spray arm. There is no need to remove the arm from what I'll call the "arm base/cover assembly"; keep it clipped on.At the center of the arm is a knurled screw. It looks like a thin disk with several bumps on it, about 2 inches in diameter. It will unscrew (lefty-loosy) and allow removal of the arm assembly. At quick glance it appears to be a molded part of the arm but that's a clever disguise. Making this part a different color would be too helpful. What else would the Maytag repairman do it they made it easy for the do-it yourselfer?
Anyway, after removing the spray arm take note (or photos) of the visible parts, i.e, spray nozzle, 2 split plastic spacers. Be sure you'll be able to return these to their proper position later.
Remove the six torx (star-shaped) screws and lift the impeller cover off. Again note/photograph the position of remaining parts, i.e. filter, impeller. You will likely find the filter clogged with debris. It can be pulled out. On my model it is retained in a groove and take a bit of force to remove. I used water pressure (sink sprayer) and a toothbrush to clean my filter.
Remove any debris from the sump/ drain area. Reassembly is reverse of installation. Be sure to flush out the arm assembly to unblock all holes before re-installing it.
I hope this helps.

No-spin

the spinning of the arms is created by the force of the water shooting out of the holes. your top arm may have debris build up in it that prevents proper water flow. u can also remove the arm and see it there is build up on the contact point were it rotates. clean it if its dirty. "dishwasher magic" is good for cleaning mineral build up in your system. also, make sure your not putting dishes on the top rack that are too tall and prevent the blade from rotating

Normally when you have low water pressure and/or cleaning issues, this an indication of a clog in your main wash pump. You will need to remove the lower spray arm and the coarse screen to get to the main wash pump sump. Inspect the impeller area of the pump. This area is usually where accumulations of debris collect and keep the pump from pulling enough water. Things like orange seeds, lemon seeds, bottle cap liners, chicken bones, and jar labels are just a few of the items I have personally found. Although, dishwashers do a good job at removing most food particles, they are not garbage disposals. I bet you will find a clog in the sump somewhere. Let me know if this helps.
