It's not the leaking I am concerned with as much as why the door will not latch properly.

Is the latch adjustable? Have you checked your seals and your hinges? One of these has to be the cause. If you do not have the expertise to troubleshoot this problem yourself I would recommend a professional servicing the machine. If you need any other assistance let me know. If you have a moment to accept and rate my solution I would greatly appreciate it.

The door has problems When your dishwasher door has a problem, check these
The latch on many dishwashers is adjustable. If your door is easy to close but difficult to latch, adjust the latch to let the door close more easily. If you can't see any way to adjust the latch, yours may be fixed in a certain position. Check for other reasons for the latching problem.

If the latch has worn out in a way that makes it impossible for you to close the door properly, you probably need to replace the latch.

Springs Your dishwasher has two springs that counterbalance the weight of the door. If either or both of these are broken, the door feels quite heavy and you need to replace both springs.

Hinges The hinges are important to the door closing properly. If they're bent or deformed, you probably need to replace them. Once bent, only rarely can they be straightened well enough.

Door seal If your dishwasher is new--or if you have just replaced a door seal--the door may be difficult to latch for a week or two. If the tightness persists, though, try adjusting the latch, if it's adjustable. If it's not adjustable, there's probably nothing you can do immediately. But try running the dishwasher on the highest heat cycle to help the seal conform to the door.
Otherwise, the seal should compress over time.

Thank You

If your dishwasher leaks, check these:

Main tub seal
Door gasket or seal
Water-inlet valve
Main tub seal Note… If the main motor of your dishwasher is mounted vertically, beneath the center bottom of the dishwasher, the following instructions probably apply to you. But if your motor is mounted horizontally, the pump isn't serviceable--you need to replace the entire pump and motor assembly.

The main tub seal is beneath the drain impeller. It prevents the water in the dishwasher from leaking out near the shaft of the motor. To get to the seal, which is inside the dishwasher, remove the:

  • Lower rack

  • Spray arm

  • Spray arm support

  • Wash/drain impellers

Then pry the seal out of its housing and replace it.

Door gasket or seal Over time, door gaskets and seals harden and lose their ability to seal properly. You can't repair the seals. You need to replace them if they've begun to leak.

Water-inlet valve The water-inlet valve, itself, seldom leaks. But, the water-supply line from the house and the rubber tube leading from the valve to the inside of the dishwasher may leak. Tighten or repair/replace these as necessary.

The water-inlet valve could mechanically stick open. When that happens, the water continues to flow into the dishwasher, which then floods your kitchen. Turn off the water supply to the dishwasher, and replace the valve.

Hoses Behind the lower access panel on your dishwasher are several rubber or plastic hoses. If the leak appears at a connection, try a new clamp. If that doesn't work, replace the hose.

The door latch pulls the door tightly
closed to prevent water leakage around the door. It is also designed
to prevent operation while the door is open. The door latch works
in concert with the door switch to ensure
that the door is tightly closed and latched.
The door switch is a separate part
from the door latch and is found inside the cabinet. The switch
is off when the door is open. Depressing the switch closes the
circuit and enables dishwasher operation. Closing the door does
not depress the switch all the way. Only
when the door is closed and latched, does the door fully depress
    the switch.

If the door latch is not properly
aligned it may not pull the door tightly closed and the door switch
will not be fully depressed. Unless the switch is fully depressed
    the dishwasher will not operate.

It is a simple matter to determine
whether the door latch is the problem. Simply open the door, close
the latch and select a cycle and depress the switch. Note that if the test is successful,
with the door open, the dishwasher will operate and water may
spray out. Make sure to first remove all tools from inside the dishwasher. Do
not reach inside the dishwasher during the test. Now, inspect the cabinet where
the door makes contact with it and locate the door switch. It
may have a protruding button or spike or more likely it is a hole with a piece of metal or plastic inside it. You must
fully depress that switch. If the switch is recessed, then use
a non-conductive object, such as a wooden pencil, to depress the

If the dishwasher begins to operate
during this test, then you have isolated the problem. The door
switch is not being fully depressed when the door is latched.
    There are three likely possibilities:

    1. The door latch is misaligned.

    2. The entire door is misaligned.

    3. The striker for the door switch is damaged
      or misaligned.

To service the door latch, it may
be necessary to access it in the control panel. Access varies
by model; on some models you can remove just the control panel
on others you must remove the interior or exterior panel of the

Before removing the control or interior
panel, look first for exposed screws that may allow you to adjust
the latch or the strike plate. You may be able to loosen the screws
and shift the latch on the door or the strike plate on the cabinet.
It may require some trial and error, but you can loosen, adjust,
tighten and test until it latches properly.

SHE33M Built-In Dishwasher handle broke off?

You have not put the full Enr, but from the bit you have added I assume you are in the states. I think you should be able to get parts from

Usually if the control panel breaks on this model, it is because you have the child lock activated on the door latch inadvertently and therefore have to force the door to get it open. This in turn puts stress on the panel which will eventually break. When you get the new panel ensure that you remove the child lock from the door latch. If you take off the front fascia panel and look at the door latch (centre top) you will see a yellow lever attached to it with a spring, just pop this off and you will immediately find that the door is much easier to open.
All the best.

Bosch dishwasher model SHY56A05UC/14 door wont latch. It will run but of course water comes out as it is not locked.

That sounds more like a gasket problem then a lock problem. Check the rubber seal on the door for damage. Even a small imperfection in the seal can cause the door to leak even though the lock is engaged.

Or is it that the door just won't close at all? If that's the case, check the locking mechanism to see if there's anything jammed in there. If so, remove it and that may fix the problem.
