There is no such thing as a universal unlock code. And ATT will give a subsidy unlock code . You have choices: PAY a company to unlock your phone, or call your service provider. If you call your service provider and they agree to unlock your handset, they will ask for your IMEI number. Based on that they will provide you with your unlock code. Don't even try that other person's unlock code b/c you won't be able to use it. Again, unlock code is specific to your phone based on on your phone's IMEI#. your IMEI.identifies your phone as well as being what you will need to give your service provider in order to obtain your specific unlock code. NOTE: THIS APPLIES TO GSM PHONES (Typically ATT and TMobile)
Incidentally, check to see if the Motorolla C168i is even a world phone. You may not want to unlock for oversea usage and/or it may not even work that way or would prove expensive, at least if used as a GoPhone. Check about purchasing a SIM card made just for that purpose.
