Player appears to reading the disc but I have no picture and no sound :(

If you can't get a menu picture from blu ray, check output jacks going from player to tv. if you a picture from blu ray menu, then you may need to clean the lazer eye in blu ray player.

if the disc is read by the player the tittle menu of the disc should appear at the screen and the player is ok you just need a remote control coz some disc/program need to start through remote program

Sorry your loader is wron out and needs replacement, due to the age of these decks you are likely better off to buy a used one which works on eBay.

This sounds like your Sony player is not reading the disc.
I have bought faulty DVD discs before that have given this same fault!
- I assume you have tried a disc that you know works in another DVD player?
Remember, your Sony Blu-Ray should be able to play ALL REGIONS of standard format DVD discs, so you should get sound & images from any one you choose.

you better take it to someone professional in the domain as your portable dvd player seem to have problem with its laser

what tv connection are you using from the dvd make sure connection are fully pushed in, try another dvd player with the same tv and connections.

Lens of the disc player needs to be cleaned.

I had same problem and once left the player on for 3 weeks (left for vacation) and it still never worked. Finally had to dissassemble body of player to get dvd out. There appears to be no solution to this problem. I have called it quits and this cheap piece of junk is now in the trash. Koss will never be on my list of best buys.
