Our Fridge (freezer side of a side by side actually) is making a loud howling like humming noise up high by the ice maker tray area.
Any idea what we need to do to stop it? The Fridge is only about 3 years old.
Thank you!
RK
My refrigerator (model GSS25JERF) makes the exact same noise in the freezer section. When I switch the freezer dial to zero (I normally keep it at 3) the noise goes away. After a minute I switch it back to 3 and the noise stays gone for a while. I've had my refrigerator for 3 years.
-   I have the same problem. The fridge is about 4 1/2 years old and about 8 months ago it started the howling thing coming from the ice maker area. I can unplug the fridge for a second or so and plug it back in and it helps for all of 10 minutes and it starts again.-   rayfan36

-   We have the exact same problem with our GE Fridge - Model # GSH25JF. We purchased it 3 years ago at Home Depot and it has been making a LOUD humming/howling noise for about the past 10 months. The noise seems like it's coming from the upper back section of the freezer. Any help to correct this issue would be very much appreciated.-   Guest

we have had this refrigerator for over 10 years and it has lost temperature and started to defrost about 7 times in about a year. each time I have emptied it and left it unplugged for 1-2 says and then plugged it in again but this time it did it again in about a week. would you suggest getting a new one or would this be worth getting a new one?

Icemaker quit dumping ice, a load is frozen in the tray and when I removed the rear panel, the top half of coils were cold but the bottom half is not. It appears the bottom part of the coil has a lead to the icemaker. Is this my issue and how do I fix it?
