The rubber seal is known as a bellow. If the bellow is torn, more than likely it IS the cause of your leak. Your only course of action is the replace it. Searspartsdirect.com carries replacements. Just type in your model (as you provided) and look under the "Door and Latch Parts" heading for item number 1 (part #8182119). It is not a cheap part, but it will cost you much more to have an appliance repair company install it for you. This is not a difficult repair, and you can accomplish this on your own if you follow these steps:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385210-replacing_door_bellow_kenmore_elite

Some additional parts that normally do not need replaced, but you may consider just in case are the front and back clamps that hold the bellow in place. They are listed under the same heading as items 6 and 14. They don't cost that much and may consider them just in case you need them. In particular, the front clamp, can break or the spring becomes stretched. Inspect these items just to be sure.

I hope you find this information helpful. If you require additional assistance, please let me know.

PS You may also try repairclinic.com for comparative pricing. They also carry the same parts (sometimes for less).

Seal on front door is torn

If your FRONT LOADER is leaking, the following link can give you guidance on how to inspect the washer to determine where the source of the leak may be coming from:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3576656-washer_leak__front_loader

Most commonly, the source of the leak comes from the door bellow (gray rubber seal). They do wear out with age and can develop small rips and tears. A routine inspection of the perimeter of the door seal can determine if you have any holes. If the seal is damaged, it must be replaced. The following link explains how:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3574186-installing_a_door_bellow_on_a_front_load

The manufacturer recommends that you leave the washer door open between washes to prevent the seal from becoming permanently stretched. Once the seal stays compressed constantly it can stretch and not seal properly. In addition, leaving the door open helpd let the wash tub air out and prevent mold, mildew and musty odors.

Replacement parts (if required) can be purchased at any of the following web sites:

Leaking water from my lg front loader during washing cycle- wm2487hrm

Hi,

The problem is due to the rubber boot is been torn that is causing you the leak. You have to check the rubber boot for leaks by removing the clamp assembly that secures the rubber boot to the outer lip of the door opening. Peel off the rubber boot then inspect it for any holes where it may be leaking. The rubber boot in your washer can be accessed only when you remove the front panel. This requires the removal first of the top panel then the console. Also check your inlet hoses on the outside of machine, also check the connections inside the panel in back.

Thank you !!

Water leak from source which cannot be seen

Is this a FRONT LOADER? Or, is this a TOP LOADER?

If this is a FRONT LOADING Kenmore washer, the following link explains how to access and inspect the washer for leaks:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3576656-washer_leak__front_loader

In most cases, the source of the leak on a FRONT LOADER is the door bellow (gray rubber seal). If the bellow is ripped or torn it must be replaced. The following link explains how:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3574186-installing_a_door_bellow_on_a_front_load

NOTE: Overloading a front loader can contribute to premature wear and tear on the door bellow and cause damage.

If this is a TOP LOADING Kenmore washer, the following link explains how to access and inspect for leaks:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3576648-washer_leak__top_loader

The most common source of a leak on a TOP LOADER is a leaking drain pump. If the drain pump begins to leak, it is not serviceable and must be replaced. The following link explains how:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3794382-replacing_water_pump_whirlpool_top

Read through the links provided and verify all your drain hoses and dispenser hoses as well. Replacement parts (if required) can be purchased at any of the following websites:

searspartrsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

Prices vary between sites, so shop and compare. The first three sites listed also have helpful exploded view parts illustrations to assist you with locating and properly identifying the parts you may need.

If you have any questions, please post back with your MODEL NUMBER, so that I can determine how your washer is configured. I hope this helps you.

After washing a load of jeans I went in my laundry room and found a flood of water on floor. All the hoses looked fine could it be something under the washer??? Never had a problem with washer before.

The following link explains how to investigate a leak on a front loader:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3576656-washer_leak__front_loader

In many cases, the door bellow (rubber door seal) can also become ripped or torn due to normal wear and tear and begin to leak. Perform a thorough inspection of the bellow by pulling the rubber folds back and check the entire perimeter of the door. This is where the majority of leaks come from in a front loader. If the bellow requires replacement, the following link explains how:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3574186-installing_a_door_bellow_on_a_front_load

Replacement parts (if required) can be purchased at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com

Can't get drain pump cover to stop leaking!

Check to make sure the o-ring (if equipped with one) is still intact and not rolled or torn. Apply a thin film of petrolium jelly on the threads of the cap and tighten until snug. Carefully grip the handle with a pair of channel locks or pliers and give the cap another 1/4 turn and it should seal. If the cap has an open style handle, use a screwdriver to insert in the handle to give it the last turn to tighten. If you have questions, please let me know. I hope this helps.

Front loader water leaks from bottom

This problem is usually attributed to the door bellow (rubber gray seal) becoming ripped or torn. If you puill back the folds in the rubber and inspect it, you may find a rip or hole in it some where. Another way to tell is by removing the bottom panel under the door and inspect from underneath. It is common for the front counterweight (concrete block) to become wet if the door bellow is leaking. Now, it is normal for these door bellows to wear out and they can be replaced. The following link explains how:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385210-replacing_door_bellow_kenmore_elite

Replacements can be purchased on line at searspartsdirect.com, appliancepartspros.com, repairclinic.com, or pcappliancerepair.com. All these sites offer competitiive pricing and great service, so shop all of them for the best price. If you still have questions, or require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

If my diagnosis is incorrect, please post back and elaborate on where the leak may be coming from so I can assist you better.

Leaking front loader

If your washer has a rubber seal around the inside of the door and it has a little opening where the detergent comes into the washer put your hand inside the rubber piece and feel all the way around and see if you feel any holes or cracks in it and that is where it will leak from.
