The problem you are describing is a problem with a sensor on the card cover or battery cover door. It seems to have failed and needs to be replaced. Following are the instructions to send your camera to Olympus for service.

http://olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_servicerepair.asp

Olympus will charge a flat rate repair fee for this product if beyond the one year factory warranty or the warranty is voided. The cost is $93 plus your local sales tax. This covers parts and labor, factory cleaning and diagnostic check, 6 month warranty and the cost of shipping the product back to you is all included in that price.

The manual o page 157 says : Lens will not retract. Do not open the memory card/battery cover while the power is on. After closing the memory card/battery cover, turn the power on then back off (pp. 17, 18).
If that does not work the first time, while he camera is off, remove the battery. wait a minute and reinsert the battery. Close the card / battery cover and switch on again.

unless there is a mechanical problem, this should solve the problem.

How can i make a motorola razr v3i accepts sd memory card 4gb

    • 1 Hold down the "End Call" button for several seconds to turn the phone off.
    • 2 Remove the battery cover. Turn the phone over and push the clamp on the backside of the unit. The cover should slide up easily; remove it and set it aside.
    • 3 Locate the memory card slot. It is located directly under the battery under a black cover.
    • 4 Pull out the black cover gently to reveal the memory card holder.
    • 5 Slide and press the memory card into place.
    • 6 Replace the black cover on top of the memory card by sliding it back over the card and pressing firmly in place.
    • 7 Close the battery cover; place the cover on its grooves and push gently until you hear a click.
    • 8 Turn on the Motorola phone. If the memory card was installed correctly, you can save contacts and other data immediately.

I have put fresh batteries in my Canon Power Shot S1 camera and it still will not come on? Can you help me?

Contact failures may have occurred between the camera and the batteries.

Confirming that the [Memory Card / Battery Cover] is securely closed

If the [Memory Card / Battery Cover] is not securely closed, the power of the camera may not turn on.

Close the [Memory Card / Battery Cover] securely, and then turn the power on.

Clean the battery terminals with a dry cotton swab that has a fine and soft tip, and then re-insert the batteries.

If your camera uses four AA-size alkaline batteries supplied with the camera, follow the procedure below. In addition to Alkaline batteries you may use optional nickel metal hydride (NiMH) batteries.

1. Be sure that the camera power is off.

2. Slide the battery cover lock in the direction of the arrow, and push the battery cover slightly forward. Then open the cover.

How do i upgrade my Motorola L9 to 2 gb memory? does the phone support 2gb memory? Amoolya

  1. Open the cover
  2. Find the card slot, look at the bottom part of the unit after you hâve open the battery cover. Tip: Look for the black cover below the battery.
  3. If you have found the little black cover, pull it out, be careful not to break it because its very sensitive.
  4. After you have remove the black cover, put the memory card in.
  5. Close all the things that you have opened.
  6. Turn your phone back on and if the card wasn’t detected, go to settings then memory, then card, then options and then format. Note: only do this if the card you are using does not have any important files at this option will delete all files inside the memory card.
and yes the phone does supporft 2 GB card

Sir, My mobile is Nokia 6500 model. In contact settings,at first it was set as contacts>>settings>>"memory in use"-PHONE AND SIM. By mistake I have changed the option of "memory in use" to...

usually the phone memory security code for nokia mobiles will be 12345, until it is changed manually. try this code... else, u have to consult the service provider i guess.

memory card not detecting....
First you open gallery on screen. If the memory card ok the first item will be the name of your Card. If it is not found that means the card not detecting. You may do this.:

Open Gallery, then press the back ( battery cover ) of the phone and hold for one second, now see the screen, you can see the card name on first line. But when you take your hand back form the battery cover the display revert to the same as before.
The point of pressing:- near to the lense ( Just right side of the lense) . You know why ?. The memory card is located inside of that place.
This means there is a switch (Battery cover open / close) located just left side of the memory card, and there is a TIP projected in the same place at the Battery cover. When we close the back cover the switch become ON. Here is the problem.....!. The switch will not contact even you close the cover. When you press the cover hardly the switch become contact. when you remove the hand again it become open.
More clarification:-
In a new phone if you open the battery cover the memory card will not work at all. It will detect only after closing the cover.

this may help you.

Screen black in all lighting. Icons and menu show and can view photos already on card, but screen black in all modes. Can take picture, but it is also black. Lens cover is open. Nikon Coolpix 4600. Thanks...

Hello, I went and researched a few points in the manual and hope this helps to some extent. If this doesn't help, try resetting your camera by removing the batteries for 30 seconds, then reinstalling them and turning on the camera again.
Monitor is blank:
• Camera is off.
• Batteries are not correctly inserted or battery-chamber
cover is not properly latched.
• Batteries are exhausted.
• EH-62B AC adapter (available separately) is not properly
connected.
• Camera is in sleep mode. Press shutter-release button
halfway.
• Monitor is off.
• USB cable is connected.
• AV/Video cable is connected

No picture is taken when shutter release button is pressed:

• Camera is in playback mode.
• Batteries are exhausted.
• Red (!) lamp flickers: flash is charging.
• Green (AF) lamp flickers: camera unable to focus.
• Message "CARD IS NOT FORMATTED" appears in
monitor: memory card is not formatted for use in your
camera.
• Message "OUT OF MEMORY" appears in monitor:
insufficient memory to record picture at current Image
mode setting.

My camera will not turn on

Hey Aunt CC,
What is most likely happening is there is something obstructing the movement of the lens (like a piece of sand), and that is why it keeps powering down immediately when you turn the camera on. Another cause of this camera powering down immediately could be the battery cover or memory card cover is open. If those covers are not open I would have the camera looked at by an authorized service technician.

Sincerely,
Allan
Go Ahead. Use Us.
