Question about Philips Televison & Video
SOURCE: Philips HDRW720 won't turn on
I think Philips must have a timer on this unit to fail, I am also having the same problem and I think the hard drive failed. I currently have installed a new drive and held the play and open close buttons down when the power comes up. It will ask for a cd to be installed when initializing the drive. I am currently searching for that cd and will let you know if any luck with the install.

I had this problem, it was solved by reformatting the hard-drive.
NOTE: if you do this, all settings and all that is saved on the harddrive is lost. But seeing that you can't start it anyway, that is acceptable, right? :)
Anyway, here's how you do it, according to Philips support:
Also of note: if you want to restore the firmware to factory settings, Philips support told me to pull the cord, press and hold the STANDBY button, and plug it back in again. For the looping problem though, I didn't need that.
