Question about Projection Televisions
I had the same issue but instead of shorting out the sensor, I removed the bulb assembly, cleaned the interior of the assembly and TV the best that I could with a vaccum and small paint brush. Once cleaned, I reinstalled the bulb assembly and the TV has worked for the last eight months with no problem.

Hi,do you hear any strange noises? If you hear clicking or like wanting to turn on it could be the board that powers the lamp it's called the ballast. Here's the instructions to replace it :http://www.fixyourdlp.com/guides/samsung/bp47-00033a.php But if you don't hear any strange noises,tv is around 4000 hrs,1-3 yrs it could be time to replace the lamp. The lamp you need is 915b403001 .Have a blessed one!

Testimonial: "The TV will turn on for a minute or so it makes a whirring sound as if it is poering up, then you can hear it wind down and then the red light is on"

there is only a loosed part at the printed circuit board. try to open the back cover of your tv but be sure to unplug it before doing this, then try to unplug then plug the connectors in the power supply part but be sure to remember each location of the connector.
