Problem with image, one bar across middle of screen

Hi, my TV turns on, I can hear the sound and change channels. My problem is that there is no picture, only a small section in the middle of the screen that has activity going on. What can possibly be wrong? Is the problem something that I can fix? If so what replacement part do I need? Thanks, Jaime

If you small section is from side to side then you have a vertical sweep falure and is probably the vert output IC. If you have experience with tvs then you know what to do if not then i would highly recomend that you take the set to a repair person for an estimate as theres 100's of volts inside the set even if its unpluged. Good luck

Blurry, purple bar across middle of plasma tv screen

Plasma screens are extremely susceptible to getting broken from any impacts to the face of the screen. What you are describing sound very much like distorted or dead pixels. It may not be a fixable issue, you may have to replace the entire unit or live with the purple bar. The reason you don't notice it as much when the screen is dark is because purple is on the darker end of the spectrum, and will be most visible in contrast to lighter ad brighter colors.

What is causing PZ550 Plasma TV to display a frozen image with bars, and then a black screen after restarting the TV? Sounds and TV functions work.

Fault to its main board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ . In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

Panasonic TV-Sound but no picture.

Hi,
According to the symptoms, There is a problem in vertical out section.Just check it there must be a capacitor that has been burst or leak. And second one reason could be the malfunctioning of vertical IC.Which is also in the vertical section.

Thanks for using fixya.

Olevia LT27HVX 27 just blue screen

I just had this same problem over the weekend. Is your TV hooked up via HDMI?? Mine was and i've been having problems with the tv image shrinking whenever i turn on the tv, so i would have to change the channel 1 or 2 times for the image to come up normally. On Saturday I went to change the channel and then all of a sudden I hearld this loud pop and when the image came on it was just a sky blue screen, I couldnt see anything, but I could hear the channel. So I disconnected the HDMI and hooked up the tv with component cables I had and now it works fine. I ordered a new HDMI cable just to see if it will work again. If not, i'm calling Olevia.

Tv screen goes blank with a line across middle

Hi Andy.

This is a straight forward repair & wont be expensive.
The problem is either dry joints on frame chip or component going thermal and failing at a certain temperature.
Cost for repair will be between £35.00 to £55.00 ask for a quote first.
