Question about Dryers

1 Answer

Dryer hotpoint Hi, thankyou for getting back to me, yes my dryer is level and i have only tested it out with a few clothes so far so the problem isnt overloading, however i have been told that some dryers come with clamps which needs to be taken out before installing the dryer however the dryer manual doesnt seem to have anything about that!

Hotpoint ctd40 will start drying then cut off after 20 mins or so. i have cleaned filters, resovoirs and tested the thermostats which are fine. any suggestions?

Do you have moisture sense on this dryer? Also, do you use dryer sheets? If the question is yes to both, look for your moisture sensor strips inside the drum. They will be a couple of metal strips that may be straight or curved and they will be spaced about 1/2" apart. Get some rubbing alcohol and several cotton balls and wet one of the balls and rub the metal strips. If it comes back blue, keep cleaning with the alcohol and cotton balls until they come back still white. Some dryer sheets will leave a residue on the sensors and it makes the dryer think that the clothes are dry and they cannot sense the moisture. Hope this helps!

Hotpoint Dryer has burning smell, checked vent--ok,checked screen just inside--ok. Drum turns. Four screws on back with depression space are extremely hot.

The cycling or operating thermostatis often the problem when a dryer runstoo hot, but there are also other things that can make it run hot also.

Here is a tip that I wrote that gives more details about why a clothes dryer will get too hot.

I have a hotpoint aquarius tdc 30 conderser dryer. It gets hot and rotates the clothes, but they aren't drying. what's wrong?

Hi, Well if it is getting hot but not drying the clothes than most likely you have an airflow problem. Take off the vent hose on the back of the dryer. It will be plugged up with lint either inside that vent on the dryer or the hose will be plugged somewhere. If you clean this or just plain replace the old hose this will take care of the problem. Good Luck. feed back is appreciated.

Dryer not heating up

To be certain whether it is the element or thermostats that are faulty, you really need a test meter to check them with, as it is not obvious if they are faulty or not, simply by looking at them
Hope this helps.

Dryer not drying clothes

If you remove the lid you will see the element on top of the drum.
There are a couple of thermal cutouts mounted on it which would be the first thing to check.
Also look for the obvious broken wires etc.
Also can you hear the fan running when machine is in operation?
Hope this helps & thankyou for using Fixya.

Hotpoint vtd65 dryer good working but not drying cloth

You will find the heater and stats located behind the removable panel at rear of dryer, you will need a meter to test them for continuity. there are other possibilities for it not to heat, so do not assume it is a faulty heater.

Can vent kit be from rear of machine

Yes ,a vent kit can be fitted, and is fitted to the rear of the dryer at the right hand side.
If you buy the genuine Hotpoint kit, it comes complete with all extra fittings.

Where do I find the heating element in my hotpoint dryer

At the back of the dryer there is a small plate secured by 2 screws. Behind this you will see the spindle secured by a solid wire curled around it. remove this wire and the drum can then be removed.
Hope this helps &thankyou for using Fixya.

Hotpoint aqaurius TDC32p dryer

well there is no diagram but i can advise you that he stats on the dryer are located on the back.. if you remover the panel that protudes outwards. yes the big funny shaped thing at the back.. Once that is removed then you will easily see that the stats are located at the top end with like orange and blue and i thnk white wires going into them .. these are easily replaced and are very common faults,, but make sure you take a visual check of the heater to make sure it is not damaged .. hope this helps..
