Question about Lite On (LTN486S) Internal 48x CD-ROM Drive
I have a windows xp dest top and my errors are drivers not found or corupted to be honest i dont know a whole lot about computers. I cant even find my e: drive and my d: drive. E: is cd drive D: is my dvd recordable drive
If you installed these drives yourself take a look and make sure they're wired up the correct way. If they both run off the same IDE cable make sure that one drive is set to master and the other to slave. XP doesn't need any drivers from any disks it has it's own and they will suffice. The most common fault apart from the master/slave one is the cable is back to front. I.E. the red trace on the wiring harness should plug into pin one on the CD drive. With all drives I've seen this has always been the end closest to the power socket. To locate pin one on the motherboard it's either marked as 1 or the end of the socket for pin one has white mark on it. If your hard drive cable red trace is the lowest pin on the socket so is the IDE2 cable. Or if they are horizontal they would both be the same ends. Another hint is to ensure your IDE2 is enabled in your bios. Tapping the Delete key whilst booting will normally take you to the bios. If after all this you still get corrupt driver messages go to your hardware manager in XP and remove any CD drivers. Close down and reboot and XP should find them again and you should be in business. If your bios is OK and the CD roms wired correctly, there's no other reason they wont work. Unless they're faulty of course. BMW

Does the error messages relate to drivers D and E ? Does they work before properly or did you installed them just now (one of them or both)?
