Your request is a bit vague. Making some assumptions. HP printers require you to install the drivers/software from the CD first. Installation process will tell you when to connect printer. Printer will go through an initial setup process to align and clean the print head.
If all of this has already been done, you may want to go into your printer options (control panel, printers, right click on HP 2210 and choose properties). Find the test button and send a test. This alone will tell you if your printer is working with your setup.
If you need the drivers/software for you printer, you can get them free from HP at the following link:
Be sure to select the correct printer. The part number (p/n) on the label found on back or bottom of printer will tell you which one you have. After selecting the printer, select the operating system you have on your computer. You will be presented with a table showing all the drivers and software (firmware) available for you model and operating system. Since this model has a scanner, I recommend downloading the HP Director software as it makes it easier to program the scanner controls.
