To fix up a frosted up vents, I had a control board replaced for $180. Then 6 months later, the bottom freezer frost up AGAIN. rather than dumping more money to fix it, I was about to buy a new fridge, but had a crazy idea: I disconnected the water to the freezer, bought plastic trays for ice cubes for $3 at walmart. Fridge has worked like a charm for 6 months. no signs of frost. Saved $1000's.

Fridge too cold!

don't forget that just turning down your fridge temp dose not mean your problem might be over yet. the freezer setting may also be too high & that will affect your fridge temp as well. i set both my control settings to around 50% of what is on the scale & that works perfect for my 7 yr old fridge. also, very important, is make sure the freezer portion is going through it's full defrost cycles, or it will freeze the upper portion inside the fridge. you should not have any frost build up in your fridge, nor should you have any in your freezer. that's why they call them FROST FREE. try the slow temp decrease over a period of a few days & hopefully that will work for you. good luck.

Bought a brand new LG bottom freezer fridge a couple of months ago. I like the refridgerator part to be cold, so we keep the fridge temp on 6 (1-7 are temp choices. 7 being the coldest). We had the freezer...

If designed as most combination units, one of the two controls influences the temperature directly, the other only determines how much of the generated cold air is allowed to enter the other compartment. The typical arrangement is that setting the freezer temperature determines how often often the compressor runs; the other diverts a portion of the cold air into the refrigerator side.
Using the common thermometer for cold temperatures (~$5 US), adjust the freezer temperature for 0 to -5 degrees F (the often recommended temp.), then the other control for the desired refrigerator temperature, suggested as 35-45 F. This is the most common practice.
If you cannot balance them the way you want, reverse the procedure, setting for refrigerator temp., then freezer.

Not only will the fridge side not cool properly, now the door won't stay shut. Temp in fridge side stays 20 degrees warmewr than what panel says.what a pos.

Fridge problem- How to check everything
The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp .
If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

You can turn the defrost timer till it clicks and everything shuts down. The heater should now come on. If it does, replace the timer. If it doesn't, check the heater and defrost thermostat. Turn the timer again till everything starts back up to end the defrost cycle.

Your evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.

Door problem-The lower hinge on each door may have a door closing cam. It raises the door up ¼ inch when opening and this assist in closing the door. If it’s wore out and doesn’t work the door may not seal and the gasket can be damaged. Watch the operation of the door to see if it rises up when opened.

One or more of your defrost components(defrost timer or board, defrost heater, defrost thermostat/ bi-metal) are bad. Unless you removed the inside back wall in freezer and completely thawed the evaporator, it will not cool properly.

I have a fridge-freezer. the fridge is working fine but the freezer isn't very cold, its about the same temp as the fridge. I have changed the temp dial but this makes no difference.

I Have a fridge-freezer, the freezer is now filled with ice/frost on sides and top, as if it were not frost free. I addition, the fridge is not very cold

High temp red light stays on...

You'll need to tear into it to answer these questions. I suspect the defrost cycle isn't working or the fan is broken. The best way to see what's going on is to take everything out the freezer drawer and remove it. Then take the back panel off the interior rear wall of the freezer section to expose the coils. The coils should have a very even white frost pattern on them (not frozen solid anywhere). If they are frozen up then the air can't flow around them to cool the fridge properly. If the coils seem "normal" with frost only then is the fan just above them working? That fan circulates cold air to both fridge and freezer sections. Let me know what you find out in order to lead you to a repair part.

Bosch Fridge Freezer Model kan60a45g - Water Dispenser is not working, only a tiny dribble!! I've proven water flow to the egress / exit of the water tank... I have a Bosch American Style Fridge Freezer Model kan60a45g. The water flow out of the built in dispenser has gone from perfectly fine to a tiny dribble, it was gradual and I assumed it was the filter needing to be replaced. However replacing the filter seemed to make it worse, so I replaced filter with the plug in order to remove it from the equation. It still didn't work, so I went to the beginning of the flow and confirmed the pressure / flow into the "in pipe" was fine. I then checked flow to and from the filter unit, again fine. Down now to the inlet valve (I think it is called) and I checked all the valves worked here when required - they do. Next I checked the flow at the point of entering the water tank which sits in the fridge. It seems fine. I removed and flushed the tank and confirmed there are no problems with its flow when refitted. So sadly it seems the problem is somewhere between the exit of the water tank and the outlet in the freezer door itself. Everything else is checked out. I cannot see how the pipework runs from the fridge side into the freezer section and then up through the hinge of the freezer door. Does anyone have any suggestions? Ideally I suppose I would remove and replace the pipe - it has to be blocked somewhere I guess? Could I blast with compressed air? If anyone has experience of this issue, or knowledge of how to remove this last bit of pipe work then I would be very grateful. Thanks in advance!
