Text messaging I can't figure out how to backspace and clear/delete something I've typed when text messaging if I've made a typo. Can anyone help ? It would be much appreciated!

Nothing is supposed to be done to enable or disable, not that I know of. Possibly, your keyboard is the problem, which is very anoying.

GO TO MESSAGES
PRESS OPTIONS
SIM MESSAGES
DELETE SIM MESSAGES
(SIM MESSAGES DO NOT APPEAR ON PHONE)

To clear the text you can use the clear button with the "c" symbol below the call drop button (The red key)

hello there if you got Sony cell phone try to see on left hand side C or <-! this type of sign. normally they are back space keys

u r keypad is likely to b defective or ur ram..
lightly strike the keypad using ur hand..
but itz better to seek professional supervision esp of ur system admin/vendor....

The "clear" key. One of the soft keys just under the screen during text messaging. The direction pad in the middle will move your cursor to whatever you want to clear.

Figured it out!!!!! Go to where you can see all the folders, ie. (inbox, sent, drafts) then highlight the inbox press menu, and go to clear txt messages. Or delete all

Check the "Tips" menu (tip #8):

"To delete a single message or chat, select it in the message list and press Backspace.

To delete several messages at once, open the menus and select Purge."

I did this a while ago, but can't remember exactly how I did it (and I don't have any messages left to test with). I believe the Purge option will then let you select which messages you wish to delete.

thank u so much for trying to help. I guess my message wasnt clear enough though. The phone is not storing my "messages", I'm not having a problem with that, I can clear them, no problem. Its the "recent log" under the "add recipients" that does not clear. The "recent log" stores all the numbers you ever text messaged to. I want to clear the #'s that I've text messaged to, not regular calls, thats easy to clear. For some reason this phone stores all the #'s that you text to. If you can figure it out, i'll give u a million dollars!!! just joking of course.

just happened to me. deleted my inbox(400+ messages) and it went back to normal.
