Question about Philips SPC 200NC Webcam

1 Answer

Uninstalled the camera but the "vm_sti.exe" is still eating my cpu

This process is eating %50 of my cpu: "vm_sti.exe"
You can see that it belongs to Philips SPC 200NC installation:

[BigDogPath] C:\WINDOWS\VM_STI.EXE Philips SPC 200NC PC Camera

Can you please help me clean this from my pc...?

Thanks,
Erdem

    Earlier the process was using %50 of my cpu and I was affraid to simply erase it.
    However, simply deleting the vm_sti.exe haven't caused a side effect yet.
    So it seems like the problem is solved.

    Thanks you for your help,
    Erdem

Hi,

Your post ..."C:\WINDOWS\VM_STI.EXE...clean this from my pc..." would mean remove/delete.

Initially, pls try to:

  • Uninstall the Philips SPC 200NC;
  • Run in Safe mode and delete C:\WINDOWS\VM_STI.EXE;
  • goto Start, Run, type "msconfig", click on Startup, uncheck reference(s) to C:\WINDOWS\VM_STI.EXE;
  • open Windows Task Manager, Applications (or Processes), highlight VM_STI.EXE, click on End Process button.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

I have a lorex wl2101 and am looking for a driver for this os xp i have asked lorex and am awaiting responce but if any one knows would love to know chars pompey geezer

The Lorex WL2101 is actually an OEM wireless camera also branded as the Swann ADW-300. You can obtain the driver by downloading the software that comes with their version, from the swannsecurity website, in the directory:-

www.swannsecurity.com/downloads/drivers/ADW300

I downloaded the 'ADW_300_USB_Software_v2_0225.exe' file, installed it, navigated to the program directory, copied 'Driver.exe' to a safe place, then uninstalled the software.

The uninstaller should ask you if you want to 'uninstall a shared file', this is the device driver so keep it. If you need to re-install the driver, just open the .exe file.

I did have a quick look at the shareware software installed and it seems to do a good job. You can remotely control all of the receiver's functions from it, including the ability to switch to any of the four cameras wirelessly connected to it, digital PTZ, and motion triggered recording.

My Web cam don't work its brand new barely got it today an i don't know how to install please help asap. ! please just help me im trying to comunicate with far away family members.

It should have come with a CD, instert the CD in the computer, if it doesn't auto-start the installation youl have to navigate through My Computer to your Cd drive, usually D:, then run setup.exe
Plug-in the camera after the installation is completed, not before; unless you are prompted to plug the camera during the installation process itself.

I HAVE A IBM PC CAMERA AND NO SOFTWARE TO INSTALL ON MY COMPUTER WHERE WOULD I FIND WHAT I NEED TO DOWNLOAD

Try this:
http://www.geekstogo.com/downloads/ibmv5000w2kxp.exe
  • The IBM 33L4889 PC Camera Windows 2000/XP Driver installation exe will show the following message: Thank you for downloading the IBM PC/Net Camera Software Driver for Windows 2000/XP. Make sure the IBM PC/Net Camera is unplugged from the computer before installing this software .
  • Click [YES] to continue, the exe will then extract setup files to c:\\setup folder.
  • Go to C:\\setup folder, you will find Setup.exe there, double-click to run it.
  • Follow on-screen instruction to finish the setup.
After installing the IBM 33L4489 PC camera driver, you will have two exe, namely IBM PC Camera.exe and Vidcap32.exe. You can use IBM PC Camera.exe to take snapshot, make V-Mail as well as capture images.

Or you can try here:

Don't forget to rate this a Fixya if it helps!

I cannot install my Web camera on my window 98 PC with the CDprovided with PC Camera CS630.

Wow, you have the CD? Please upload the drivers from the CD. Please use a different computer than the one you are having difficulty with because the CD drive may be causing the problem.

Communications helper.exe

Sounds like Communications helper.exe its some type of driver and/or windows service. This would be the same for all cameras and other computer devices that utilize the Communications helper.exe driver/service. It might be possible to stop Communications helper.exe or its alias from running at start-up but its not recommended as you probably will loose functionality of the camera.
