you have to install the sound driver. plz check the motherboard cd for the sound driver, if you dont have cd then you have to download it from the manfacture website

Is the sound-card "integrated" into the motherboard, or is it a separate adapter-card that is connected to the motherboard?

If the former, then the manufacturer of the motherboard will have the device-driver available on their web-site.

If the latter, then the manufacturer of the sound-card will have the device-driver available for download from their web-site.

Or, try "Windows Update" and "custom" and then look in the "Optional Hardware" section.

Usually Intel sound cards also works with Intel sound / audio driver. Try Realtek AC 97. Or download from the internet compatible sound card after entering your sound card model.
