You wont be a ble to install Oracle 8i to Vista computer ,because that Oracle version is not supported on that Vista OS (only 10g onwards) will work with Vista computers.

Hope that helps........

I want install oracle 8i in windows 7

You can't install that Oracle version directly on a Windows 7 machine, but you should be able to install it on XP Mode.
Oracle 8.1 is not supported on Windows 7. It is never intended to be used on Windows 7. You have to look at virtualisation (Virtual Box, Virtual Pc, WMware), to get Oracle 8i installed on Win XP, 2000, 98.

Your best bet is to look on metalink and search for the error code you are getting. Oracle is very particular about what versions work with specific OS's

Downloading assistance

Hi there.
Before you install any of these programs i would recommend you upgrade the ram to at least 512mb.
Oracle 8 will slow the PC down dramatically and you have not enough system memory to cope with that.
Once you have upgraded the memory both programs will work fine although i would also consider a bigger hard drive for the future.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

Oracle 8i on Windows2000Server

What exactly motherboard & processor you are usin? For some latest mother boards Oracle8i will not install and terminates why because the interface of the oracle was devloped by developed by using swing (java) so some app's wont start. This might be the cause. So, what you have to do is copy Oracle8i CD to HDD and search for SYMJCIT.DLL and rename it to SYMJCIT.OLD and install from the dump.

If it wont work then reinstall the system once.

This might be helpfull

Thank you

Nandu :)
