Question about Lexmark X5470 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Lexmark x5470 all in one printer

I get a thick black line when printing & scanning, can you help please?

    Hi Steve



    The black line appears to one side and is about 1 inch wide, it happens every time we print,copy & scan. The printer is not that old we brought it about 2yrs ago new, and it has been stuck in a cupboard for the last 18 months.Thanks for taking the time to sort this out.

Where is the black line when you scan? Where is it when you print? Does it appear on every print job or only things you have scanned?

    It's odd to have a problem both printing and scanning in the same place. It was only scanning and copying, I would blame the scanner mechanism. If it was only printing and copying, I would blame the printer mechanism.



    The only other thing that it could possibly be is a bad USB cable, but that is unlikely... why would it cause problems only in one place.



    Sorry this one seems to be out of my league. You're probably out of warranty, but you could give Lexmark technical support a try. I've heard CHAT is the best way to get to them the fastest. It's available on www.lexmark.com under TECHNICAL SUPPORT. You have to type in your printer model then CHAT WITH TECH SUPPORT.

Thick black lines when scanning Samsung SCX-4824FN


The contact image scanner is faulty or the cable from the motherboard to the contact image scanner is faulty. I would bet it is the CIS as this scanner is used in many different machines (canon,lexmark,sagem) and it gives problems in all the machines. You can usually salvage a good one from an elcheapo lexmark inkjet multifunction.

I cannot use the scan function on my X5470--specifically, to scan documents into PDF format. "Cannot retrieve Application List" is the messge shown. How do I repair this function?


Make sure the Lexmark OCR scan software is installed on your computer. The software allows you to scan your documents to PDF file. The software is only available on the installation disc that came with your Lexmark printer. If you don't have the disc, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for assistance.

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer. Reboot your pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection.


If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

1. Disconnect the printer from your computer.

2. Rebrick (pull out power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds).

2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.

3. Delete the Lexmark print object.

4. Reboot your pc.

5. When your pc turns on, reconnect the printer.

6. Wait until your pc fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, then try to print/scan again.

My printer Lexmark X5470 just started to print horizontal bars


Hi,
The problem with the printer could be due to two things the first one could be a print quality issue. Here is a link where you can find very good details on how to clean the printhead and cartridges. http://bit.ly/amSQwY
The second problem could be software related which I don't think could be the problem with your printer but if the print quality does not work then this is worth a try. Just uninstall all the Lexmark Software completly restart the PC, download the latest driver from the lexmark website and it should be good to go.

All works fine except the scanner on the lexmark x5470...It used to work fine but the menu has reduced to image capture only but even that wont work


All you need to do is put in your page you want to scan, upside down and the wrong way round and hit scan. Then there wil be two buttons underneath the buttons which say print, scan, fax and it says start above it then two buttons which say black and colour if you want your copy in colour press colour or black!!

hi

try to perform maintenance of your printer
on the setting
and open your printer clean up the nozzle
use alcohol and cotton buds and then placed it back properly!!

Black line during scanning


Clean the scanner bed with the clean cloth and try to make a copy if it stills as a black line, if your printer is within one year warranty please get it replaced by the company and use this link:
