I don't have my security key for my belkins router?

In order to rest your password or if you forgot it you need to reset the router.

  1. Locate the reset hole on the router. The button will be on the back or side of the router.
    See images below:

  1. Leave the router powered on.
  2. Use a paperclip (or similar) to press and hold in the reset button for 10 seconds.
  3. Remove the paperclip.
  4. Wait approximately one minute for the router to restart.

Restoring the router to default using the web interface

Symptoms

You need to restore the factory defaults using the web interface. This may be because the router is not performing as expected or you wish to remove all previously configured settings.

Setup steps:

  1. Connect the computer to one of the four LAN ports on the router.
  2. Open a web browser on the computer.
  3. In the address bar of the web browser, type http://192.168.2.1
  4. Click Login in the upper right-hand corner of the page. The router does not ship with a password, so just click Submit.

  1. Click on "Restore Factory Defaults" in the left-hand column under the Utilities heading.

  2. Click on the "Restore Defaults" button.

    restoredefault2.gif
  3. A warning box will open that says, "Warning all your settings will be lost, are you sure you want to do this?" Click OK.

    restorewarning.gif
  4. The router will begin the restoring process. Once the restore is complete, the router will reboot.

Note: This may take several minutes.
Your router has successfully been restored to its factory settings.

Unable to reset a Belkin Wireless N F5D8236-4v1 back to default

That is indeed strange. Holding in the reset button should definitely clear the wireless router memory. Are you sure that you're going to the right administration page to configure the router? It should be something like 192.168.1.1.

Also... by any chance are there other wireless networks nearby? I'm wondering if your computer accidentally connected to that while the wireless router was off... and now you're going to the wrong router.

If none of that works, try leaving the router unplugged for about five minutes. The volatile memory shouldn't last much longer than that.

I CANNOT CONNECT TO ROUTER??

As you didnt specify the type or your router. I will tell something that you must check if your router is physically connected with your system than check for the LAN cable is properly connected or not. if its wireless than please connect it physically and then check the connection if you get it or not. If this both do not solve your problem than try to reset router to default setting and reconfigure it. To set to company default there is one reset button on the back side of router.

Cant remember the password or username to access my router

Hello,

Depending on the type of router, there you be a factory reset button on the back of the eqpt that you can insert something about the size of a paperclip into for about 10 seconds while the power is on.

NOTE: Once this is done, you will lose all configuration and passwords on the router. After that, you can refer to the manual for the default password on your router. Some routers have default passwords and others you can leave blank.

Hope this helps. Please remember to rate this information.

Thanks

I need a password for my wireless g router

The default password is in your manual or user guide that came with the router. Accoding to the list found here: http://www.answersthatwork.com/Download_Area/ATW_Library/Networking/Network__4-List_of_default_Router_Admin_Passwords_and_IP_addresses.pdf belkin uses a black password with the user name admin on some routers and others leave both fields blank. If you changed the password and forgot it you will have to reset the router to bring it back to default.

I need to change the password back to default on my wireless router. Model# WRT54G2

There is a small momentary reset switch on the back of the router, it is very small but clearly marked "Rest". With the router powered on, press and hold the switch in with a paper clip or similar small implement for at least 10 seconds and that will reset the router to default settings (no password), after which you can connect to the router open a browser and type 192.168.1.1 into the address bar and to access your Linksys routers configuration/settings to be able to change settings and set a new WEP/WAP key.

I forgot my network key, and purchase another computer. So, I second computer can't connect to my wireless network.

Hello Haity01,

There should be a very small reset button on the back of your router that you will need to press (with a pen or paper clip, etc...) for at least 10 seconds while it's powered up. Doing so will revert the router to it's default configuration (unsecured wireless network, or default key printed on the router or router/modem). If resetting defaults to open/unsecured? You should be able to address the router by typing 192.168.1.1 into the address bar of a browser once connected to the router and enable encryption and re enter a new key, then save those settings.

I hope this helps, and Good luck.
