Depends on what OS. Most web servers require that you activate it in the Flash settings though. (It will typically ask to allow or deny.) If it's Windows 8 or 8.1 and it's the app, it'll ask you when you first start it.

The WEB cam driver may not be loaded. When the drive is installed there should be a camera icon on the desktop.

With the product a software cd will be attached with it. just install in your pc.select your settings base on your requirements and configuration. a exe filw will be diaplayed in your pc window. click on it then the camera window will be displayed.

Important notes
The computer communicates with cameras with photo softwares required installation. Photo software installed has to be compartible with the brand camera. Generic photo softwares installed on the computer can recognise any built-in cameras, camera connection attachements. Once, a photo software has been click opened, the features fucntionalities of capturing snap shots, editing, and saving are made possible from any available camera devcies. Built-in computer cameras have already installed softwares locatable on the menu programs task bars.

A separate camera used to acquire photos elswhere requires connections to the computer from which manipulations become possible. Any already existing photo media softwares would recognise to intergrate a camera connection. For the camera to function while connected to a computer would require the feature functions of an opened photo editing program.

A computer built-in camera can perform on the network only by opening the photo windows software provided on the web. The internet web cam for example provides the opportunity to search and locate any cameras attached to the computer for network communications. Such an instance easily recognises the built-in computer camera. A separate camera would require connection compartibilities to the computer systems, and possibly the network type. A network that provides photo camera softwares incompartible to the cameras connected to the computer would require generic softwares installations for communcations to take place between camera, computer, and a network of computers.

Yes, the computer will recognize your USB connection coming from the camera, that not mean it has seen the camera. You must switch on the camera for the PC to see the camera and communicate with it. Just switch on the camera.

Depending on your camera model and your computer's operating system you may not need a Canon software disc at all. All you may need is to download the drivers that might go with your combination of camera and OS, These drivers are available at the www.powershot.com website, under the drivers and downloads tab of your camera's web page.

From the homepage click on the "Download Library" link next to the large Canon Logo in the upper left hand corner and enter into the three drop down menus 1) digital cameras 2) Your camera's series such as "S Series cameras" for say an S5 IS, and 3) your camera model. Then click Go.

You will then land on your camera's web page with the default drivers and downloads being displayed. Enter you Operating System of your PC in the drop down menu, and when the page refreshes, you will see all available downloads for your camera. If there is a driver required for your OS it will be listed and you can download and install it. That's all that would be REQUIRED for a camera connection to be made. If no driver is required then one will not be listed andyour camera will simply be detected upon connecting it to your PC.
