Question about Linksys WAG200G Router

1 Answer

Internet keeps dropping off

My Linksys WAG200G with the latest firmware keeps dropping it's internet connection, and it does not automaticaly re-connect. I have to manually connect through the Web interface, and this sometimes can take upto 30min. This also fails more often than not and I have to power cycle the modem and then manually connect taking an awful long time, this has been very frustrating to say the least. Any advice in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

Steve. :-)

On the router's Setup Page / User Interface, adjust the MTU to 1400 and choose the option Keep Alive. That's under SETUP tab.

Hi,

we need to first figure out whether it the modem or the router which is dropping the connection.

Please connect one of your computer directly to the modem, by pass the router and access the internet. If the connection drops then its the modem which is dropping the connection and you need to contact your isp to check it.

If the internet works fine directly with the modem then its your router which is dropping the connection. To fix the router we can upgrade it firmware.

To upgrade the firmware please visit the link below;
http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/wireless/linksys/E1000

Note; If you are not comfortable upgrade the firmware then don’t do it. If not done properly then it can damage your router.

Hello there. i have two lynksys WAG200G routers.

Are you wanting to expand the ports available to your internet connection or simply increase the coverage area. I suppose it's the same in the end. What would you like to accomplish?

All lights on WAG200G is light up green, but when trying to go on internet, nothing happened. why?

Most probably you will need to upload the new firmware on your WAG200G as this issue is due to a corrupt firmware, reset the unit for 1 minute and then try to upload the latest firmware on the unit.

Bittorrent causes router to drop internet connection. using latest linksys firmware. other firmware available?

Did you port-forward?
Do hard-reset of the linksys. If possible do firmware upgrade even if you have latest version.
Nothing works out then change firmware to dd-wrt (google it).

Linksys WAG200G doesn't have a green light with the internet.

Try unplugging the WAG200 ADSL Home Gateway, leave it off for a minute, then plug it back in. Sounds too simple, but it works more than half the time.

OK the main problem right now that the only data carrier in Saudi Arabia (STC) is upgrading its infrastructure to provide high bandwidth to end users. STC is using Huawei MSAN which doesn't support linksys.

Here is a firmware update which they say it will overcome some of your problems.
