The firmware is only available on Ricoh service website. You have to be an authorized service technician to get in. It also require a special flash memory card that is pcmcia based as well as a $300 software program to put it in for a company in Germany. It's better to find a technician in your area to do it. You may find another solution around by checking out copytechnet.com. It's a free website for copy technicians. There maybe a Ricoh technician who can assist you on there.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Can I upload pictures thru my j3680 all-in-one?

I have looked everywhere and can't find out for sure. You shoul inspect the machine to see if it has a smart card center. It will look like a small grouping of slots, from the size of a stamp to the size of a business card. If it does, you can upload photos just by inserting a card into the slot. From photos I've seen, you should look in the front of the area where you install the print cartridges.

To print photos my machine requires a memory card. What card should I ask for and where/how do I install it?

Hello!
You can print photos from your computer too. Usually, people use memory cards from their digital camera, when they want to print photos directly from the memory card. If you do not have a digital camera or any other device that uses a memory card (i.e. a mobile phone), I am not sure you need one in order to print photos. However, here is the answer to your question:
You can use several memory cards in your printer, but only one memory card at a time! You can use:
  • SmartMedia, xD-Picture Card (fits in bottom right of the slot)
  • Memory Stick, Magic Gate Memory Stick, Memory Stick Duo (with user-supplied adapter), Memory Stick Pro
  • CompactFlash (I, II)
  • Secure Digital, MultiMediaCard (MMC)

Here is a picture, so you can see how to install them:

You can buy either one of these memory cards, it's up to you to decide which one you want.
Hope that helps!

Initialization flash simm memory on LJ4+

You don't have to initialize the extra memory on that printer. Just install it and when you power on the printer it will recognize the extra memory. If you mean install, then go to www.HP.com and look at the instruction manual in the support section. I believe you have to extract the formatter board from the rear and then you should see the place where the chips should go.

I would use 32 mb though. I don't think the copier can read anything bigger than that.

Hi usama

Look on EBay for one. You might find one on there. You might be able to get away with using a 64mb compact flash card with a pcmcia adaptor as well as a SD card. It can't be any bigger than 64 mbs.

Search under Ricoh memory cards.

They use PCMCIA as well. If you don't have a notebook with pcmcia you will have to get an adapter card for PCI use on a desktop.

Hello MR dricha

If the developer has been changed.  You need to go into service mode to calibrate it before you print.  If you don't run the program and you make copies, copy quality will change and you may have to replace the developer again.
Once it is replaced go into service mode and issue the service code to calibrate the developer.
If you haven't replaced the developer yet, you should.
