How do i adjust the magneto gap on a Troy-Bilt TB70ss string trimmer.

That is it. It is about that way for anything in the area of the clutch and flywheel. It is a pita but the nature of string trimmer in general.

Ignition coil air gap

If you have a new coil check for a gapping card in the part box. Otherwise the gap is usually achieved with a business card thickness of paper! I used to use the box tops of the parts boxes as my gapper. True story! You will probably see the spot where the old coil made marks on the engine *(clean vs rusted) to confirm you are in the right ball park. Be safe and good luck!

Homelite U2T608 edger/trimmer will not start. New plug gaped properly. Dropped carb, dissembled and cleaned out all ports. Fuel is flowing and is new. Motor wont even "cough." Suggestions?

Check the magneto for spark. Remove the plug and reinsert the wire and hold it against the engine as you pull the starter. You should get a nice, blue spark. If you don't see one, the magneto to flywheel air gap may need adjusting or the coil module is bad (rare). You basically need good compression, fresh fuel, good clean air intake, and a strong spark to get it to "pop." I realize you may know these things, but, most people are unaware of the .010"-014" air gap required between the magnets on the flywheel and the legs on the coil module. Disassembly is required to get to it and you take the same steps you would if you wanted to fix the pull rope. A standard business card has about the proper clearance needed between the aformementioned parts. Post back if needed. I am here to help.

What is the air gap for my magneto on my 25cc homelite weeater?

Should be around .013 to .014. turn flywheel until magnets face magneto insert your feeler gauge and loosen magneto screws...let the magneto stick to the feeler gauge and the magnets... re-tighten the screws, remove feeler gauge, and you should be set...hope this helps. ;-D

I need the gap setting for the coil on my homelite weedeater 25CC 'Easy Reach'

As small as you can without fouling the flywheel. It should work with anything up to a 20 thou gap, so if you set it to 10 thou and no spark, then you need to replace the coil..

Carburator adjustments

Unfortunately, the two screws are not the problem. In fact, they very rarely require adjustment. Only when the engine is old and worn.
The problem is the timing, that is in need of adjustment.
You need to try and find the old screw settings, (if you can).
To adjust the timing, you can either adjust the gap, between the magneto, and the contact, or, the gap on the plug.
Good luck with that,
btw, don't forget to rate:)

Weak spark on an Echo GT 1000 trimmer

Recomended spark is 6mm or more if there is no play in the crank bearings you can try closing the magneto air gap to 8 thou if that does not work you will need a new ignition module.

How can I determine if my husqvarna magneto is working?

Remove spark plug from the engine, reconnect it to the plug cap cable which come from the bobin.

Find a piece of steel wire jumper, atleast a foot. Make a jump from the metal body of the plug to the chassis of the engine.

Safety issue: Place the plug away from the spark plug's hole on top of the engine to avoid gas ignite.

Set the trimmer on the floor, set the gap of the spark where visibility while you pull the string.

Pull the start string and the arc could be seen right on the plug gap. Consider an Arc Purple or Blue coloration are good.

If the arc has not been seen, the Magneto need to be serviced.
