My Kenmore Elite washer spins to slow cauisng the

If this is occurring mostly on heavier loads your clutch may be slipping. If you take a flathead screwdriver and push down the lid switch so the washer will spin with the lid up, grab the inside of the drum. If you can easily stop the drum its most likely a bad clutch. If you tip the washer back and see oil underneath then its probably your transmission leaking oil onto the the clutch causing it to slip (in which case you need transmission and clutch assy). If you see oil I would probably not bother calling a tech it would be a pretty expensive repair.
IF the problem is with the clutch only it may be worth repairing but to replace the clutch you will have to remove the pump, motor, transmission, and the clutch mounts on top. The other less common possibility could be a bad drive block under the inner tub. hope this helps. _MJ_

Tub does not spin. water pump works but no spin

  1. does the machine agitate? if no replace drive coupling between motor and transmission. If yes you have either a bad clutch or transmission.
  2. Remove cabinet and jump out lid switch to run with cabinet off.Put the machine in spin, look where the shaft goes up thru center of tub.Is the clutch drum turning?IF yes replace clutch. If not replace transmission.
  3. My guess bad coupling ,cost $20.
  4. Hope this helps .........Please rate my solution :)

My clothes will not spin to wring out the water

Clutch is bad, Control Panel Bad, or Motor Control Board bad. Usually the clutch you can get a new clutch online fron an appliance parts dealer there are several so shop around. INSIDE THE BACK COVER IS THE OWNERS MANUAL remove a few screws and get it. This will help aid you in self repair of MAYTAG :( I finally gave up and bought an old standard machine and I have no worries or problems with my washing machine, no stinky drum or clothes, no break downs, and no half washes. I ll never buy another high end washer set again, never.

Top load whirpool washer does not spin

If it spins with no clothes in it you have a bad clutch. If it makes a huge racket with no clothes, its a transmission. It is most likely your spin clutch.

Washer does not always spin, if I do a half load it spins but not a full load

You may have a bad clutch or possible bad belt. Look under your washer if it is open and you see no belts then it is direct drive and you may have a bad clutch or oil leak . If you see belts then you may have a worn belt. Good luck! !
