Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC07 Animal. Due to the design of the brush control system, the brushbar should only be removed by an engineer. If you haven't already got in contact with us directly, I'd encourage you to do so. One of our experts will be happy to recommend the best course of action. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US). We'll look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Jack

When operating smells like burnt rubber. Roller brush stopped turning.

Hi leanneaj...
Your problem is caused by hair, strings, etc getting around the beater bar at the ends of the roller where the bearings are and causes it to sease up.
The smell you smelled was rubber burning, the rubber belt that operates the roller brush has burned into...broken.
You will have to remove your roller brush and clean, and oil and then reinstall it with a new belt

Go on-line and "hunt"...er..for the user guide. Also check the brush and look for hair, strings etc. caught in and on the roller. This is often a problem and can clog up your machine.

I ran over a big floor rug with my vacuum and some of the strings from the rug got tangled in the roller on the vacuum. It makes a terribly loud noise even now after I have cleared the strings from the...

You will need to pull the roller out and clean it. I think some of the strings are tangle up at the end of this roller. (Most rollers will come apart at the end for cleaning.) Make sure that the strings are not tangle up on the belt pulley as well. I hope this will help you.

Motor runs, but noisey, smells hot, brushes don't turn

First you need to check why the brushes are not turning, this could be due to a lack of suction, which means the smell of heat and excess noise is due to a faulty motor, this can also be tested simply by testing the units suction power.
A faulty motor is the most comon problem when it comes to smells of heat or 'ozone' as well as excessive noise. Good Luck.

Just bought this a month and a half ago - used 3 to 4 times and it is making a loud humming noise like something is stuck. Filter is still good and cup is cleaned each time. Wanting to take it back to...

Is there any thing caught in the roller brush? Carpet string, plant leaf,Coin?

Try removing the suction hose and putting a broomstick through it to unclog any thing you may not be able to see.

At the area where the roller brush is look at the suction hole, feel with your finger if anything may be caught inside.

If all is clear you may have a defective motor.Return it while you still can.

Thanks and good luck.

Belt keeps breaking.

your brush roller isn't turning unplug the vacuum and see if you can turn the brush roller and also notice if it turns freely or is it stiff, take the roller out and remove strings, carpet strands and hair.if you can pull the ends off clean the ends good and maybe add just a little drop of machine oil on the bearing on the inside the roller where the bearings are.clean the motor shaft.there is probably old burnt rubber on the motor shaft.you can use a pice of emery cloth ,clean it till you see the polished finish .but i would say your problem is in the brush roller and the motor shaft.i hope i was some help to you.can you please leave some feedback

Dyson Brush proplem

Hi Dave.

Ok you need to lift belt end of roller up, so that you get the roller straight then lower roller down so that both ends go in at same time down.

Use a large flat screwdriver to help lever roller up from belt end & watch your fingers (Ouch).
