I am hoping for a more specific answer, like, This problem is due to ....., and parts required are .....with labor should be about, $$$$$, so I know what to expect when a technician check my unit. If three people have posted the exact same problem I am hoping is not that rare. It looks like something I can't fix it myself, but I need to know, is it worth fixing it ,can I afford it? Thank you.

That is a convergence problem, as posted, it is called horizontal failure, to fix it it is necessary check soldering at the yokes, test horizontal convergence IC, test a couple of capacitors and resistors on convergence circuit, and sometimes the technician may have to replace a pcb inside.

The wole job starts from $80 and usually costs over $200.

To get service you can call the number listed on the owner manual, or look for support on website.

Hdtv with yellow half circle on bottom of screen

Odds are real good that the cooling fluid in the blue picture tube assembly has become contaminated. Only solution is to pull blue crt and dump out old fluid and clean and reinstall new fluid. Once done a fair amount of re-alignment is required. This is not a job for a do-it-yourselfer. Most tv shops would charge in the area of $250 to $300 for this repair.

Sony rear projection screen is red then tv shuts off

Can be 1 of 2 things. 1st the red tube just needs the voltage to it turned down. In the front of TV (you have to remove the lower front half of TV to access it) is a plastic square with 6 knobs. The from left to right top knobs control focus for blue, green red. The bottom knobs control voltage to each tube in same order (so lower right knob for red) turn SLOWLY to left to reduce voltage until excessive red and lines go away. If you over turn left or right set will turn off. If that does not fix it or if lines reappear then option 2 is that red picture tube is failing outright and needs replacement.

Hitachi TV 43FDX10B has yellow line with blue curve line above it

It sounds like your convergence ic's are messing up

They have a kit for this tv it is available through local parts distributors
If you can't find it locally just Google HITACHI CONVERGENCE KIT

If you are not good with de-soldering and soldering do not attempt this repair. Remember to replace all the resistors in the kit

If you are not sure about doing this repair you should have your local tv guy do it for you

BLUE SCREEN

I got this Sony KP-57WS500 57 in TV for FREE from a guy posting it on craigslist because he saw "BLUE SWIRL LINES" also knows as "Retrace Line" on the screen and he went to several repair people and got high repair costs so he was giving it away for free, but i found a guide that tells you how to adjust the tv to make the blue or green or red lines go away, aparantly the line show up because the voltage on the color ray gun tubes that get out of adjustment. Here is the Link to the REPAIR GUIDE. http://www.somelifeblog.com/2007/06/sony-projection-tv-red-line-repair.html
