Formatting a laptop is the same as doing it on a desktop computer.
If you are using the Windows installation CD then to get the laptop to boot up with the Windows CD you can change the BIOS boot startup device and make the CD the first boot device.

try to download driver genuis pro installed and run it and will be automatically search the driver for your laptop

You can only format re writable CD/DVD.

right click on the HD icon in "My Computer", click on "format...," then read what's in the pop-up window. Kinda a hard within XP if it's the system disk.

First tell me where you are going to install this hard disk whether to be primary or secondary disk and what is your pc configuration.

Old bios does not support large volume hard disk so you have to make it partitioned with the help of a new pc and then try to install the xp or use some third party utility to format and partition the hard disk (use or download part.exe) then make a bootable cd or floppy with Windows98 or XP then run this utility

I need vista drivers / software for my Goodmans GPDR40 too :(

The original drivers / software from the disk installs on vista but doesnt work!

Anyone help please?
