Question about GE (PSS26MSRSS) Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Ge side by side refridgerator

The freezer works only 50% of te time
I have a simalur problem. My GE fridge is running i.e. the lights are on, fans are on, but it doesn't get cold any more. The first day it did this Ipulled out the fridge from the wall. The vibration from the movement must of tripped something because I heard the compressor start running and the cold air started flowing. The next morning it was getting warm again. I moved the fridge out again but this time nothing. I removed the back covers to look for loose connections but everything looked good. Any suggestions.
Thanks,
Brad

We had the same problem. called a repairman and they had to replace the electric unit - about $268. But I STiLL have that horrible high pitched noise every time the fan kicks in. About 20 minutes every hour. I have to leave the room. It kills my ears!

I have a ge refridgerator gss25k side by side. thefridge/freezer are not cooling. the bottom of the fridge freezes and the top is warm.

There is an air duct that connects the fridge to the freezer. A fan circulates air to cool the refrigerator.
The inside fan has stopped working or is blocked by ice.
Defrost the freezer. If the fridge starts to work properly then you have an auto defrost problem. If the fridge still does not work then there is a faulty fan.
A technician can help you there

My GE Side by Side is not working wierdly. the top few shelves on both the freezer and refridgerator are not cooling but the bottom shelves are cold.

Check to see if your evaporator fan is blowing in the freezer, then check your condensor fan behind the back panel. If those are both running make sure your coils are clean underneath your fridge. Cold goes down heat goes up, that's why it is warm up top and cold down. Start there. Good luck!

Our GE PTS25LHRBRWW refridgerator is running but it is slowing warming up to 50 degrees in both the freezer and the fridge. It seems to be blowing and running like usual.

ge has had alot of problems with the computer board that's in the back of the fridge.but first try this, open the freezer door, you should hear the fan blowing in there,if not you could have a bad evap fan motor, also touch the back wall of the freezer,if there's snow or ice on the back wall you have a defrost problem, you could have a bad heater or a defrost thermostat, also have you cleaned the coil on the bottom of the fridge?remove the bottom kick plate and vac it out, pull out the machine, remove the back bottom panel and vac that out, ashop vac works great for this vac out what you can and then blow out the coil and clean out any of the dust that you couldn't vac up.if the frame between the doors is hot that's one way of telling it's time to clean under there and when you have the back panel off make sure the fan is blowing back there.if everything looks good i would change the computer board,it costs around 150 to 200 hundred bucks.let me know what you find and if you need any more help let me know.

We have a gsh25jftfww ge fridge. the temperature control panel (on front) does not light or work and fridge and freezer is not cooling. The light is still on in the refridgerator, but fan is not running...

Your refrig uses a main control board that is on a recall list .The board uses a WR55X10552 . The replacement board is WR55X10656 . I would suggest calling GE factory service and they will cover this under warrenty , due to the recall .

GE side x side refridgerator temperature is

unlikely both temp.sensors will be faulty at the same time. Notice how different the internal temps.are compared to the acurate one you are measuring it against. Almost certain board is defective because incorrect info in the processor will tell the compressor/s to switch off before time.(hence not correct temp. all the time.) Suggest replacement.I normally replace probes as well to eliminate problems later..
