HP 4215v cartridge error message

I have the same message all of a sudden. Did you ever figure out how to fix it? Thanks, Jeff

    Hi Trip, I appreciate you getting back to me. The error message displayed on the printer reads, "Cartridge Error -- See product documentation for details." That's all it says. And I don't have any product documentation. I can't copy either. If I request a scan from my computer, it will scan. If I try to scan from the printer, it won't. Hope that helps you. I appreciate your help!

Hi Jeff,

First of all, did you read the web page at the link I previously provided? Print cartridge errors will cause you to have problems both with printing and copying. There are a number of troubleshooting tasks on the page I provided that you'll need to go through to see if you can correct the cartridge error. Give them a shot and post back your results.

The scan issue is a tad more tricky. Actually, if you computer's operating system is Windows Vista, then it is a known issue and has a "workaround" for the problem:

While the scan button "should" work with Windows XP, it still may have issues. I have an Officejet 6110 and have never been able to get it to scan just by pressing the Scan button on the printer's control panel. I use the program on my computer and since it works, I don't fuss about it (the printer has otherwise met all my needs for years, so I'm OK with it).

When you press the Scan button on your printer, do you get any error messages, either on the printer's control panel or on the computer? If you do, that'll at least provide some clue as to the issue. If not, it will be hard to diagnose. Sometimes HP scanners don't work and play well with Apple OS computers, but other than that, doesn't provide any other solutions.

Try going through the troubleshooting steps for the print cartridge, then try to print, copy, and scan and see what happens. Post back your results.

Oh...I noticed you posted your email address. Just to let you know, there are automated programs on the Internet called "spiders" or "bots" that crawl public forums and "harvest" email addresses for spammers. I don't think you can edit your posts (I can't edit mine at any rate) but in the future, try not to post your email address in a public area on the Internet. I was installing the yellow ink and then all the sudden after I installed it the message Error Oxc18a0301 appeared! How do I fix this?

Shut down your printer by pressing Simultaneously Cancel + OK + Black + Color.
Complete the steps below in the order presented to resolve the problem. It might not be necessary to complete all of the steps.
NOTE: The printer will not operate unless all six ink cartridges are installed. Also, HP cannot guarantee the quality of refilled or re manufactured ink cartridges. Step one: Reset the printer CAUTION: Do NOT perform any other type of reset on the printer before the ink initialization process has been completed.
  1. Without turning the power off, remove the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall socket.
  2. Wait 30 seconds and reconnect the power cord to the printer and to the wall socket. Turn the unit on if it is not already turned on.
  3. Check the printer for the error message. If the error message still displays, go to the next step.
Step two: Clean the cartridge contacts
  1. Lift the top cover. Figure 1: Lifting the top cover
  2. Locate the ink cartridge indicated in the error message. Squeeze the gray tab below the cartridge slot to release the latch and then lift the latch. Figure 2: Unlatching the cartridge 1 - Black cartridge 2 - Color cartridges

  4. Gather the following cleaning materials:
    • Distilled, filtered, or bottled water. Do not use tap water, alcohol, or platen cleaners.
    • Lint-free cloth or swab. Eyeglass wipes and coffee filters work well.
  5. Lightly moisten the swab or cloth and squeeze out the excess moisture.
  6. Holding the cartridge by its handle, wipe the copper contacts. Figure 4: Wiping the contacts (1) - Copper contacts
  7. Replace the cartridge and then close the latch and the printer top cover.
  8. Check the printer for the error message. If the error message still displays, go to the next step.
    NOTE: The printer may take up to 15 seconds to clear the error and recognize the cartridge after closing the cover.
Step three: Replace the cartridge If the error message still displays, replace the indicated cartridge with a new cartridge

Did you just replace a cartridge. Sounds like you used the wrong one.

Error message 0xf0af8005 and green and orange flashing lights

Please follow these instructions to reset the printer. If that doesn't work, try again but wait longer before reconnecting. Otherwise, here's the home support page for your machine. You can look up the meaning of the flashing lights there as well.

HELP..."ink cartridge not compatible" error message.

I had the same problem and solution was change the cartridge for a new one (My printer is a HP PSC 1315)

Cartridge error, check left cartridge

Try the steps mentioned bellow

Unplug the power cord from the All-In-One as well as the power outlet when there is still power in the All-In-One. and wait for atleast 1Min
Plug the power cord directly to a wall outlet without surg protector. (if possible connect it to a different power outlet)
Before connecting the power cord to the All-In-One press and hold the # and no 6 button and then insert the power cord, do not release the keys
until you see a message a reset (if the screen goes blank then release the keys and turn the power on)

Then check and see

Remove and check color cartridge

This is not a joke! I've owned 3 premier HP ink-jet printers and each one broke under extremely suspicious circumstances. They provide a very limited amount of use time, and their cartridges are severely OVERPRICED!

I believe that anyone reading this should look at their HP, and replace it with a "Brother", "Lexmark", "Kodak", or other reputable company that provides a "DURIBLE" product.

HP is a huge brand name, and they have established themselves for their ease of use. But a printer is not a pair of shoes that should be changed every year or 2. They are poorly constructed, and they get back every penny you save on them by overcharging on the ink.

HP should PAY for betraying their costumers trust, and simply "Lose" their customers! Kodak is better anyways! HP is a second rate product with first rate "BRAND RECOGNITION".
