Question about Cameras

1 Answer

Hi, I have a Dimage 7i camera and I'm very new to it. Been taking pictures no problems but all of a sudden no matter how long I hold the shutter button a picture will not take. There is a hand icon in the lower left corner (shake icon? I'm very steady). Also a rectangle icon in bottom right which I didn't notice before. What might be wrong?! thanks

As you already know the shutter button has two parts or clicks to it. the first click will allow the lens to autofocus and automatically select the right exposure, and/or calculate shutter time for the picture. when you see the hand signal, it means that the camera calculated that the shutter will stay open longer then usual to take the picture. so if you move while you take the picture it my come out blurry. all that happends during the first click, which means that your shutter button isn't making contact with the second click. it should be an easy fix at any camera shop. if its still under warranty the manufacturer should have no problem fixing that.

I just purchased a 4GB SanDisk Extreme lll CompactFlash for my camers but when I try to use it I get the Unable to use card message. What can I do?

I suspect 2GB is the maximum the camera will take. A 2GB Sandisk card works in my 7i. When the DiMAGE 7i was launched, 256mB was about as big as CF cards got!

Konica Minolta DiMAGE 7i Digital Camera Problem

I just found a solution to my camera problem. It turned out to be the batteries. We purchases some Rechargable Duracel with a 2650mAh rating. After charging the batteries I put them in the camera and it started right up and was taking photos like when we first bought it. I have not been able to use the camera in almost 2 years and it turns out the problem was weak batteries.

So anyone that has a Minolta Dimage 7i and cant get it to turn on make sure you have at least 2650mAh rated rechargable batteries. The higher the mAh rating the better.

Hope this helps someone else. We are ecstatic that we can use our camera again. No more using my camera phone!!!

The camera does not require a new CCD. This problem is most likely due to a stuck or malfunctioning shutter mechanism in the lens. Normally the camera will open the shutter to allow you to see the image so you can compose, and then when you take the picture it will close the shutter momentarily and record what the CCD saw at that moment. If the shutter does not open in the first place - all you see is black. If this is in fact your issue the camera will need to be repaired. David Millier Advance Camera Repair

What is the number of recorded pixels on the DiMAGE 7i?

The DiMAGE 7i has four different image size settings; Full 2560x1920, UXGA 1600x1200, XGA 1280x960 and VGA 640-480. The recorded pixel size in each mode is almost equivalent to an image captured with a 5 mega pixel, a 2 mega-pixel, 1.3 mega-pixel, 0.35 mega-pixel DSC respectively.
