My PSP was doing things on it's own for a while then one day I left it in the car and came back and when I tried to turn it on it didn't come on so I went home put it on the charger it still didn't turn on even if I took the battery out and kept it plugged up it still didn't come on. So I just left it on the charger after about 2 days it turned back on. It was working for like a week or 2. I was able to turn it on normally and it was charging normally. Now it's gone out again and I'm steady trying to find out what the hell happened. When I left it in the car was at night time so I know it has nothing to do with sunlight....

Followed directions on your suiggestion. There were 4 srews though instead of two. Still no sound but it may be that it isn't dry enough yet or I need to reclean it. Everything else is working great though. Volume button doesn't work and bar on volume on the do you want to quite screen won't move up. They are all connectected together though I'm sure. When I get the button working everything else will probably work ok. Thanks

f you are experiencing issues when using a Universal Media Disc (UMD™) on the PSP system, try these troubleshooting options:

  • Issues with PlayStation®Store content Click here for help with content purchased from the PlayStation Store.
  • Restore Default Settings Restore Default settings will default the PSP system to its original settings. A setting change may be the reason the PSP system is having difficulties. Click here to learn how to restore default settings on the PSPgo / PSP system.
  • Confirm UMD is properly inserted

Make sure the UMD is properly inserted with the label facing the back of the PSP system. Try removing the UMD and reinserting it.
Please note, it is normal for the PSP system to make noises while it is reading from a UMD.

For PSP-1001, slide the latch to open the UMD door. For the PSP-2001 and PSP-3001, simply lift the door open.

  • Try playing the UMD on a different PSP system If possible, try playing the UMD on a different PSP system. If the disc still does not function properly, it might need to be replaced. If the disc does function properly, the PSP system may need service, see PSP Service for details.
  • Try playing a different UMD on the PSP system If possible, try playing a different UMD on the PSP system. If another UMD plays, the original UMD may be the problem. If none of the UMD's play, the problem may be isolated to the PSP system.
  • Check for moisture Do not let the PSP system or any PSP® accessories come in contact with liquid. Also check for moisture condensation in the PSP system. If moisture condensation occurs, remove the disc from the PSP and do not use the PSP until the condensation has evaporated, which can take an hour or two. In general, if any part of the PSP gets wet, discontinue use until it is completely dry.
  • Check the regional code Check the regional code on the UMD™ Video. The only regional codes that the North American PSP® is tested to work properly with are "ALL" and "1.
    "
Tried these steps and still need help?

If you have tried the troubleshooting information above, but continue to experience problems, please contact our Consumer Services department to have your PSP system serviced.

Nothing on the screen when psp is switched on

Turn the PSP off and remove the battery and battery cover. Remove the two screws underneath the battery. Remove the other two screws on the opposite side of the battery. Remove the final screw on the bottom edge of the PSP.Grasp the PSP on both sides with each hand and pull the cover off of the PSP. Locate the button bar on the bottom front of the PSP. Use your flathead driver to lift up the left side of the button bar until it pops up off the LCD support. Lift the button bar cable tab upwards to remove the cable and remove the button bar.Insert your flat driver into the small space on the left side of the LCD screen between the the LCD housing and the LCD mounting bracket. Twist the screwdriver slightly and the mounting tabs will pop out. Gently remove the other side of the LCD after popping out the first side tabs. Bend the PSP screen all the way down until you can see the backside of the screen.

Lift up the flex cable connectors and unhook the cables that connect the screen to the PSP motherboard. The tabs are brownish in color; they are very fragile, so be gentle. Lift the PSP screen out of the housing and place to the side.Place your new PSP screen into the PSP, face down like you had the older screen after popping out the mounting tabs. Connect all of the cables from the PSP screen into the motherboard tabs. Fold the screen back into the bracket, snapping it into place. Place the button bar back onto the LCD support, connecting the last cable. Place the cover back onto the PSP and tighten screws to finish.

PSP Slim - Broken Screen ?

Its the LED on the psp that is broken. The LED is the inside screen that brings the picture up onto it like an LED flatscreen tv.

It wont be covered under your sony warranty because your warranty covers you for electrical faults not accidental.

You could contact sony to see if they would fix it for a charge but to be honest the money you'd spend fixing it, you might aswell just buy a new psp

My psp got water in it

If it was plain water (and not salt water) then leftover moisture/condensation may be causing the problem. Try this... it sounds really wacky but it often works: put your PSP in a box full of uncooked rice, completely covering the PSP on all sides. Leave it in the rice for a good 12-24 hours. The rice wicks away the moisture inside sensitive electronics.
