Question about GoVideo DVR4200 DVD Player/VCR

No power? Fixya, The display, including power light, remain off when the unit is plugged in and turned on. I can barely hear the VCR drive drive attempt to spin, but it stops after several seconds. After that, it reveals no sign of receiving power. Help. John

If the unit powers at all and you hear some thing from the VCR, and then the unit powers off--problem is in the VCR.

If total dead a fuse is of course possible--If none of these then the TV has a problem in either the High Voltage circuit or the power supply.

To repair or to replace?

We have a RCA VCR Model VR622HF Manf. 9-18-98 that suddenly won't turn on manually OR with remote. I am an experienced Electronic Tech with 43 years @ ATT. I measured the resistance at the AC Plug and read...

Hi,
If front display lit up when vcr plugged in that means power supply is working and issue is in system control section, and if front display remains dark while vcr plugged in wall socket then power supply is defective.
As you know its an old model vcr so I do not think spare parts would be available any more, I found good option for you to fix this vcr.
Click eBay.com link to get same vcr in working order for $40 that can be used to obtain either power supply or any other board/ parts to repair your vcr.
Hope these info will help you.
Thanks.

POWERS OFF BY IT'S SELF

Hello FixYa customer,

There can be different issues in the mechanism or electrical that will cause the unit to shut down. However, since the power is going off completely after the initial plug in I suspect the power supply.

The SMPS, Switch Mode Power Supply has filter components that age due to heat, the voltage output on the filters reduces until the Micro Processor malfunctions and the unit won't stay on. The power supply filters can be changed by an experienced technician for $10-$15.00 in parts plus labor.

Thank you

My DVD Recorder & VCR (DRC8320N) has Hello on display

Even though the power light may be off the unit is still on. It will be warm on top. Unplug the unit for 30 minutes and plug it back in, that will usually reset it.

RCA DRC8312 DVD/VCR player is stuck on Hello

Faulty power-supply symptoms:

The front panel display and buttons are completely nonfunctional and appear dead. The unit will do nothing more than display the following messages on the TV screen:

Interface error
(and or)
Interface error! Turn off the power

If a DVD or VHS tape was inserted prior to the error occurring, you won't be able to eject either from that point further. They'll remain stuck inside the unit until you've completed the repair detailed below.

Progressive scan mode will not go away.

Hi,

Depending on the model or version, normally Progressive Scan Mode maybe enabled/disabled by:
  • PScan or PS button on the original remote or front control panel;
  • a slide switch at the rear.
Hope that this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Gateway MT6451 Does not turn on

leaving your unit in standby mode is not a problem as long as your ac adapter is plugged in to your ac outlet and to your pc. otherwise, you will have a drained battery. try removing your battery for a few minutes and then insert it back in then plug your ac adapter to your wall outlet and to your pc and leave it without starting your pc. notice the small pilot light at front edge of your laptop, it should be yellowish/orange. wait until this light turns green then you can try turning on your pc.

7200 not turning on

I had pretty much the exact same problem, I could hear the fans turn barely on when plugging in, but it wouldn't power up. If you look at the power light in dark conditions, the light was doing a rapid flicker. My power supply had failed. I tried to get a replacement board, but the part is no longer available. Projector Doctor would fix it for $395, but there is a person on this board who goes by Neo32 on here and gtitubro on ebay that fixed it for me for $150. I'm a satisfied customer :-)
