I recently bought 2gigs of ram from crucial.com. From what I understand, my computer can handle it. When I installed the ram and tried to turn my computer on, it had one long beep and four short beeps. Nothing happened afterward except for my fan coming on once. The ram is good because I tried each by themselves. I also tried 1.5 gigs in the system which also had the same failing results. It is also as if the slots won't work together. Any suggestions???
If you're using windows vista, you need to upgrade to service pack 1 to make the RAM work on your computer. before installing the RAM on your computer, be sure that you already didi power reset. turn off the computer. unplug the ac adapter and remove the battery pack. press and hold the power button for 10 secs. reseat the RAM in the computer. put in all power sources back to the computer.
i hope this info helps.

Tried it with no success
I have the same problem trying to install over 1gb of ram. I tried tech support at Crucial, and they told to me to contact Toshiba to find out why the system won't expand to 2gb of ram. I am running Vista Home Premium with service pack 1 installed.
Thanks
I have had the same problem. Toshiba told me that the Celeron can only support 1GB, the Pentium can support 2 GB
I have a Toshiba Satellite A55-S106 that says by manufacture it has a maxium memory upgrade of 2 gig. I have put both 1 gig of memory in each slots and turned the power on nothing happens. I took one of the memory card out both are 1 gig each and my computer powers on. Mind you while i was doing all of this I a sitting at the desk of Best Buy Geek Squad. So I bought two of the same gig cards thinking my orginial mem card was not communicating with the other. After a few exchanges I still go the same results. I left with the 1 gig that it accepted the first time. Any suggestion my email address is [email protected]
