Question about Lexmark Printers & Copiers

1 Answer

I am disabled and bought the Lexmark x6570 so I could send and receive faxes. I want to set the unit up on one phone line for use for both faxes and general phone conversation. I presently have a y connector that has one line going to my A.T.T. dsl router and the other to the phone which has a built in answering machine. What do I need to do to connect the printer so I can fax on the same line? Do I need to buy and adapter that three lines can go in? I can't afford a dedicated line for faxes because I am on social security. Please help me. I have used the printer and it was exceptional and I really like this printer. Thanks for any help you can give.

Stevelxk I need to have a phone line into my dsl router also. I presently have a y splitter and I have one line going to the router and one to the phone. Your solution will work for the phone and the printer but I won't be connected to the internet without being connected to my router also. That is why I said should I buy connector with three slots and run one to the router one to the phone and one into the printer

No, you don't need to buy an adapter, just one more phone cord. You already have the splitter, so run one phone cord from the splitter to the printer. You'll see there is a line in and out. Run the out to your phone. Voila. You should be all connected.

I think you're still OK. The printer acts as another splitter. I'll attach a rough drawing of what I'm talking about. Good luck!!

Are you able to receive faxes? This problem could be caused by several factors - e.g quality of signal, fax settings, etc. This article in the Lexmark website will help you determine and resolve your fax problem: Main Contributing Factors to a Fax Send Failure on an Inkjet All-In-One (AIO).

I have a lexmark x6570. I have att uverse phone/internet/tv. I have always been able to send/receive faxes. Now i can receive a fax, but cannot send one. When I do, the transmission report says...

Try dialing *82 and then the full fax # you are calling. AT&T sometimes has issues with caller ID functions, and I found that this caused me to be able to receive a fax, but not send one. Post back and advise whether this resolves your problem.

Cant send faxes or recieve

Do you still have the problem?

Did you go through the entire setup procedure according to the manual including the fax/tel set up? Fax/tel setup tells the fax machine how you are using it. For example is the phone line used for just receiving faxes or is it used to receive phone calls AND receive incoming faxes OR is there a telephone answering device (TAD) attached to your phone line. If there is one, set it to 2 rigns. If you have it set to 4 rings the fax could disconnect before receiving the incoming fax. If you cannot send, then it has to be a line problem assuming you went through all the set up procedures correctly. Short of this you may have a bad unit and need to return it.

My model Kodak 5500 printer/fax

Just found your post and I'm having the same problem. Everything else seems to be working correctly. I can copy, scan, print and I THINK I can send a fax correctly, I should have called the person and made sure it arrived. However, I cannot receive faxes. I have an answering machine on the line, but it is not plugged into the Kodak Pinter, it is in another room. The answering machine answered the call, the FAX noise came across, but the Kodak Printer never picked it up and printed out the fax. I think I have all the settings correct, but the instructions are not very clear. Do you think I HAVE to have the answering machine plugged into the Kodak Printer? That doesn't make sense, but I might try it.

Sending Fax

set baud rate to 9600 or slow
set resolution to standard
set error correction mode (ECM) off
.
.
if fax has overseas mode turn it on

vonage can make changes to the line that could help, if your using a voice line with call waiting use *70 prior to the number to disable call waiting for that call
