Help with charge

I would suggest charging about 2 oz below label then charge by pressures if it is a TXV. Cap tube is critical charge so i would as the manufacturer of Hot Shot. Not recommended to use hot shot on cap tube systems. My opinion only.

Which way do I turn the temperature dial on a true 3-door reach-in stainless steel cooler?

Numbered 1-9 - one is the warmest setting, nine is the coldest. For a cooler it should be good on 5 for a freezer 7. If it doesnt work well on those settings the thermostat is usually bad.

Can the T-49F be converted from freezer to refrigerator?

Anything is possible so Yes... Although I wouldnt recommend it. The price to have a qualified technician do the job would reach very close to the cost of a new reach-in cooler and it could put a bit of a burden on the compressor. You are better off selling the freezer and purchasing a cooler with the money from the sale. It would involve one of two fairly large scale jobs. 1. The recovery of the refrigerant and installation of a CPR (Crankcase Pressure Regulator) with some wiring changes and adjustments... Or 2. The replacement of the compressor and capillary tubing.

What is the normal operational pressure in lo/hi side at the compressor of commercial freezer like dispaly case, reach in cabinet or other any low temp refrigeration uses 502 or408A/404a. is there any rule...

why yes there is. Generally speaking, the head pressure should be around the "ambient +30" rule.
That is, measure the entering air temp to the condenser, say 75 degrees. Now add 30 to that and get 105 degrees. Look at a P/T chart and see what the pressure is for that temp which is about 253 for R-404-A.
The evap on a freezer leads the load so, as a general rule, the evap temp is going to be around minus 10 degrees to get a 0 degree box. Coolers are different. So, the pressure for a minus 10 evap is around 25 or so. But the unit has to be close to operating temp. If the box is warm, naturally the pressure is higher. And what influences the pressure is whether or not it's a TXV or a cap tube system.
If a TXV and no receiver, charge by subcooling. If a receiver, fill by sight glass. If Cap tube, charge by superheat.
Hope that answers your question.

My chest freezer now runs continuously, I presume thermostat at fault. Is this easy to fix I am quite handy wth tools.

Good day,
They do a good job of hiding them, but it should be in the machine compartment near the compressor.
Not too hard to remove, but you must use caution, in removing the long skinny capillary tube that is inserted into the tube that runs into the cabinet. NO, IT IS NOT A WIRE. It carries a small refrigerant charge inside and if broken, the control is ruined.
Note: My experience, is the problem is a small loss of refrigerant charge in 90% of the cases, not the thermostat.
If the thermostat will not shut off, and the unit runs for in excess of 24 hours, the interior temperature should be colder than -10 degrees. Check first.
The purpose of a thermostat is not to turn the machine on, it's purpose is to turn it off.
If the freon charge is low, it will not reach the sensing capillary tube of the thermostat described above.

No your are Ok . You may be to small on your unit. Check the charge you may be low. Make sure site glass is clear. Also I have had to install a dfrost time on several of my coolers. If you have one just set defrost for more or more often. Got to keep the beer cool. Rus

Freezer has lost its suction & no longer freezing!

Depending on the age of the unit it does take a 134a freon charge or 12 or 22. when fully charged unit should cool properly. need to check door seal for suction issue. the unit does need a good charge to cool. it could also be a restricted sealed system issue.
