This is caused by the system folders having insufficient priviledges.

Do this...

1) Start - my Computer - tools - folder options.Select VIEW tab. Under Advanced Settings, de-select Use Simple File sharing. Close Window

2) In windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Documents and Settings. RIght click on All Users and select Properties. Select the Security tab. Select Administrators from the group or user names. Select Full control if it is not already selected.

3) Click Advanced. Select Replace Permission Entries On All Child Objects With Entries Shown Here That Apply To Child Objects .

4) Install Wordperfect. Once it has installed, re-enable file sharing from #1 above if it was enabled originally.

I can't signon

Sign on to what? Your computer? If you ever could "sign in" and not now, possibly your user profile became corrupted. It is not too hard to create a new user profile. My instincts are that this is not the problem, however.

Are you trying to log in to your account or some other person's account. The last user of the computer typically has their log in screen retained. Check USER ACCOUNTS on the computer via the control panel. Can anyone else log in? Has an administrator assigned a password to you computer account?

If you can not sign on because you set up a password and can not recall it, you likely would have to use a password recovery disc.

A remarkable number of times, if there is a user name and password, the user fails to log on because they either type their password in as their user name or the are using capitals and the password was lower case. And, of course, to sign in, you use your user name and your password. If this is a home system, you may not even have a password on the system and the problem may be something else.

It would be helpful to know the computer manufacturer and model number and operating system when addressing these questions.

If I remember correctly, you get the advanced file sharing and security when you enter safe mode in windows xp home. Try safemode - tap f8 in start. startup in safe mode, you should be able to edit the permissions of the folder its lacking permissions to.

let me know how it goes.

Got an error message 1935 while downloading software for a printer. tried sfc /scannow per kodak help tech, message said must sign on as administrator in console session to do this. how?

I think your system has many user accounts to log in. In your case I think you are logged in as other user in spite of administrator so the person who logs in as administrator has kept some securities so when you are trying to download anything it will ask administrator's permission,To avoid this type of errors always log in as administrator, or just remove securities from the administrator's account.

Thanks.
have a great day.

I try to login and enter my correct password and it tells me user profile service service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded....

Could be the User Account is damaged. Can u click F8 on startup and sign on as administrator? If so, go into control panel and into users and create a new user then restart the computer and sign into this new account.

Then you should be able to go into you C drive and retrieve the documents from the damaged user account.

Let me know if I can be of any more help.

How do I sign in as the administrator on my computer?

If you haven't setup a restricted user account, or someone else has, you probably have a computer virus...
Viruses often disable some windows features...
Try to install some antivirus software, and try using the HijackThis utility to remove such windows malforms

TRYING TO CONNECT NEW PRINTER TO APPLEMACNOTEBOOK

the password it is asking for is probably the administrator password. If there is someone else that uses the computer also they may be set as the administrator and you probably have a normal user account.
YOu need to get the administrator password before you can install the printer. If this seems to be a normal problem for you then you should have yourself set as an administrator(control panel>user accounts))
Let me know if this helps with your problem and thanks for using FIxYa

While tring to install a printer, a sign poped up saying we needed an administrator.

Log off the computer or restart the computer and login with administrator account and password to install it successfully.

If you don't have an administarator account then reboot the system in safe mode and login with administrator account and make a account which has admin rights.

An administrator account user can only install the printer drivers or software.
