Thats why Gateway went down the tubes , bad customer service and just really cheeply made computers.

A month is Vastly too long for a repair , I would contact my lawyer.

And it would be a cival lawsuit.

Or you can demand your computer back reguardless of it's condition , and have it looked at by
a trained professional localy , and of course check them over to see if they are established and reputable.

or you can simply pray and excersize grace in this matter.

Got struck by lightning via the modem which was destroyed. The port that accepts the ethernet cable stays on as soon as the computer is plugged in. Power comes on but no input to the monitor.

The modem might have been obviously destroyed but so is the rest of the computer. The connection that you are talking about is the NIC and it is showing signs that it was damaged by the surge also. That means all the delicate electronic parts in the computer are toast. Time for a new computer.

9 status lights

I'm not sure what you mean 9 status lights. Each computer case has lights and can be very different depending how it's configured. The owners manual should in detail tell you what the lights mean. Are you talking about lights on the computer case or the motherboard

Front Bezel

If your talking about the tower case you can get any cool aftermarket one here, from $40.00. If you're talking about the monitor or screen and its under warranty you need to contact the monitor's manufacturer.

Bios defult to erase system passowrd

You can only change supervisors password in BIOS by entering blans(spacebar) to reomove that password but you cant change your windows password. For that you will have to login with a different user and then delete/change the earlier password. Other repair the OS from its original disc and make sure where you enter the passwords....Do not try to add supervisor password in BIOS, thats very deceptive....sodeep

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Norton has a habit of being so good that it interferes with some normal activities. Should you wish to uninstall a Norton product and if at all possible, download and run the Norton Removal Tool. Soon as the Norton Product is un-installed, remove the remaining Symantec folders in Common Shared folders. Thereafter, pls follow below procedures:
  1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start > Programs > Accessories > Windows Explorer.
  2. Delete the program installation folders for all Symantec program that were installed.
  3. If you accepted the defaults, the installation folders will be in C:Program Files and will have the name of the program that you installed.
Below listed are the default program folder names and locations listed by program:
  • C:Program FilesNorton Internet Security
  • C:Program FilesNorton SystemWorks
It would help to configure Windows to show all files.
  • Click on "Windows Key" and select Control Panel
  • Double click on Folder options.
  • Click on View Tab
  • Un-check "Hide file extensions for known file types."
  • Under the "Hidden files" folder, click "Show hidden files and folders."
  • Click on Apply
  • Click on OK.
Having performed the above, search for and delete all Symantec folders.

  2. Double click on C Drive
  3. Go to the following locations and delete the following folders.
  • c:Program FilesNorton Internet Security

and delete all the 3 folders.

Finish by cleaning up the Registry:

My computer won't load. It's asking me to insert the windows vista installation disc. Under that, it says: "File:\windows\system32\winload.exe status:0xc000000f" please help me!

You may need to change the boot order in your bios so it starts the CD drive first. You will need to use your manual to do this because there are different bios's. When Vista boots hit repair and it should repair it. Are you, or, were you dual booting your computer with Linux or XP? This can sometimes cause that error.

Floppy drive 3rd time round with ya

Thank you for sending to me the whole info, cause I didn't have it.

Your issue occurs because of a problem with the Plug and Play BIOS used by some computers.

At this point to resolve this issue, I suggest to look at HP website for an updated BIOS for your computer.

But You must to know that the BIOS can be write-protected. If that is the case (it is not usually necessary), before the BIOS can be updated, its write-protection has to be disabled by changing a jumper setting on the motherboard itself, or by changing a setting in the BIOS itself. If this needs to be done , the motherboard's user manual will provide the required information in the section devoted to the BIOS.

Get also the info of your motherboard computer (usually from the website manufacturer)
downloading the manual to check the settings.

I will try to find that data for you to help you out with this issue.

Thank you for using FIXYA!
