Compatibility Pack for MS Office, doc to docx, ppt to pptx, xls to xlsx

This tip is all about the compatibility issues between the Office 2000, Office XP, or Office 2003 with Office 2007. Because all programs in Office 2000, Office XP, or Office 2003 used the old file extensions for its different programs. For example Word 2000 saved files with extension .doc, Excel 2000 with .xls and PowerPoint 2000 with .ppt. but on the other Office 2007 used the new file extensions for its different programs. For example Word 2007 saved files with extension .docx, Excel 2007 with .xlsx and PowerPoint 2007 with .pptx. Now the problem is that when you will try to open Office 2007 files into Office 2000, Office XP, or Office 2003 you will not open the file due to compatibility issues between both office versions (before 2007 and after 2007). Microsoft provides a free compatibility pack to convert Office 2007 documents to the Office 2000, Office XP, or Office 2003 format. There are many third party free converter are available but here we are using Microsoft office compatibility pack.

Please follow the given link to download free Microsoft compatibility pack -

Just install the compatibility pack after downloading........

How to open files with extension ''docx''

.docx is the format for microsoft word 2007.

You will either need to buy a copy of office 2007, download the free viewer from then click downloads and type word viewer into the search bar, note, this only works to view or print not to edit.

Or you can download a copy of Open Office from it is free to download and use, but the company survives purely on donations so please donate whatever you can afford. That way they'll still be around in years to come.

If you already have Office 2003 you can also download from the microsoft site a free converter program that allows you to open and save back to the 2007 format, search for 2007 compatibility and you should find it top of the list of results.

My Type Artist won't run on 64bit Vista

most will have to be run in compatibility mode. movies on cd & dvd probably won't burn to cd (or run at all). they're too old for the manufacturer to post patches for vista support.

if the software is already installed on a pc, run the upgrade advisor to get more info on compatibility.

NERO ESSENTIALS is full of 30 day trials which I found infuriating!!

I am sorry to hear about your troubles.

It sounds as though LiteOn bundled a limited-time trial of Nero with their hardware. This is a normal/routine
condition of hardware sales. Most certainly the purchase price of the DVD drive did not include the cost of
a fully licensed copy of Nero's DVD authoring software. Retailers often assume that consumers are aware and accustomed to the workings of such bundles, which often is not the case.

I am assuming you are using Microsoft Windows XP as your operating system; please let me know if you are not. XP is capable of authoring CDs, but not DVDs so you will need to either purchase a commercial application or try one of these free applications:

AVS Disc Creator
DeepBurner Free Version

If your computer is a Dell manufactured computer you can obtain DVD authoring software for free from by providing your Dell Service Tag number.

Can u help?

IF there is a compatibility issue Then why not use the compatibility wizard.
Click on your start button /ALL programs & then upto the accessories menu & then click on the Program Compatibility Wizard.
Try it
It is a well missed program But sometimes you never know.
You could also do a google search to see if there is other people with the same problem
Or you could search for a fix
for eg.
Vista Compatibility error fix.
