My wireless adapter for my desktop keeps connecting for awhile and the disconnect from my wireless router /modem. The router is less than 100 feet from the computer ....do i need a new usb wireless adapter...

Is there any other wireless computer in the network ?
Right now the connection is dropping on your computer . It might be the problem with the wireless adapter of the computer or the wireless router .
You will need to isolate the problem.

If you have any other wireless computer in the network and that computer is also facing the same problem then it must be the router problem. You can check the settings of the router . for this you will need to access the router set up.

If you have other wireless computer in the network and that is working properly then it must be adapter issue. Try to uninstall or reinstall the adapter or Update drivers.

If you do not have any other wireless computer then try any laptop in this wireless network just to isolate the problem.

I got belkin wireless g gaming adapter for my xbox 360 the other day and i downloadaded the cd on my computer and followed the instructions, but when i put it in my xbox 360 the xbox couldnot find the...

You will need to match the wireless settings of your router and the gaming adapter.
Who is the manufacturer of your router?
connect your computer to the router with the cable and open the set up page of the router. check the wireless settings of the router SSID, Channel, security settings.
now you gaming adapter and the Router IP address should be in the same range. Suppose if the router IP address is 192.168.x.y and the default IP address of the gaming adapter is 192.168.a.b., then the number x should be equal to a. If it is not then you will need to change the IP address of the gaming adapter so that x will be equal to a.
after that open the set up page of the gaming adapter and change the wireless settings.
power cycle the router and the gaming adapter and now it should work.

Connect another computer to wireless router instructions say go to site www.linksysfix.com/ela

on any standard UNSECURED router, all you should have to do is click connect under "Network connections" in Control Panel. However, if the wireless router you would like to connect to is SECURED (password protected), you will just need to type in the password required in the connections when prompted.

This is assuming the other computer you are trying to add is wireless capable.

Internet connection-Linksys Wireless B

Did you move the router out of range of the computer? It sounds like you put it back where it was but I just thought I'd ask.

Otherwise, use your wired connection to check the router settings. It is possible that the wireless settings defaulted due to the disconnection. You can either set the router to match your wireless computer if you can remember, or just set up a fresh wireless connection between the two.

You are connected to access point but the internet cannot be found.

Do you have a connection wizard that you can run on your computer? Linksys offers them for downloading at their website. Try that -
have you named your home network so your wireless connection can "find" it? You don't mention how your main computer is networked in. A wireless adapter for a notebook will need to have a Linksys connection wizard run on the laptop.

If you have a Linksys router connected to your main computer, it should already have the piece of software you need. Most likely, you'll need to put it on a flash drive and install it from that onto your laptop. the wizard helps also to diagnose the right settings.

If you want to post what you are using for your main network (linksys router?) and which operating systems you are using, that will help.

For example, in Vista, you'll need to enable the option for "network discovery" under your laptop's control panel/network and sharing center.

You also need to have certain settings on your main computer for the wireless to work - there are two main types of wireless connections - B and G. Most of today's routers and cards will do both, but if you have an older router, it might not be set up to handle the newer or combined types. They run on different frequencies, so your laptop might not be "reading" your router's frequency. Also, if you have other wireless/radio frequency equipment near your laptop, it can interfere with the signal being received right.

You also need to be sure that your firewall allows the linksys system to access your computer (allowed programs).

Try to setup home wireless network to share two home computer

Connect the home wireless network router box to the main PC through an ethernet cable with the PC powered off and the home wireless router powered off, then power on the PC & the router. Vista should locate the new wireless network and follow the windows vista network setup procedures. After the wireless network has been detected you then while the second PC's power is shut off you connect dongle adapter to the PC power on and XP will locate the new adapter. You will probably have to enter your networks pin for the connection.
