I've had a similar problem relating to bad caps on a AOC Lm-722 lcd. More details on the blog http://syscon.wordpress.com/2007/01/27/aoc-lm722-lcd-repairs/

Sounds like the backlight is defective. You can probably get a new backlight online if your comfortable taking apart sensitive electronic equipment BUT you must be very very carefull and handle the lcd with care as you can easyly damage it. Oh one more thing the power supply may also be defective for the backlight. I would contact the manufacture to see about the repair or replacement parts as they should be listed in your operators manual. Good Luck
