The wep key is located underneath your 2 wire gateway enclosed with a bracket.

If you are using at&t U-verse, then the WEP key is on a sticker on the gateway computer provided by at&t

No, it's normally on the router side not the adapter

I have a 2 wire adaptor and comcast internet a motorola modem. i really need to know can these two work together and what would be the network key?

Yes they should be able to. You will need to contact comcast on how to obtain your network key. Have them instruct you on how to chage the security to WEP if it is not already there.

Help setting up Panasonic DY-WL10 wireless adapter to 2Wire gateway 2701HG-B?

go to on screen "setup"
select "network"
select "Network easy setting"
Select "wireless"
do the connection check
the 2wire modem should be detected by the DY WL10
Select the 2wire
select "open system"
select WEP encryption
enter the encryption key, or just "key" (it is the number in brackets somewhere on the 2wire). Do not enter the brackets.
follow further prompts. It is easy from here on (famous last words)

Wireless Internet through 2Wire router not working

First of all change your router to WPA rather than WEP. WEP is easily cracked now and is not secure. That might be what your laptop is looking at.

Secondly, update the wireless drivers to the current version from the website.

Make sure your router is broadcasting on 'auto' (802.11a/b/g, and N if supported), It ay be broadcasting only on, say 11g and your laptop doesn't support it. Updating the wireless drivers may also fix this.

I need some simple help. I want to change my WEP Key so that someone who had the wepkey cannot access my wireless network any longer. My router is a 2wire...can you help?

Hi Steve,

Do you use a Wireless Router? If so, logon to the router, go to wireless security and change the wep-key there.

If not, do you host the wireless network on your PC?

What kind of Router do you have if you have one?

Regards Ronnie

My first suggestion would be to get rid of the 2Wire adapter. The other part is not quite so simple though. First question, Do you have WEP enabled on the router?

My usb adapter (2wire 802.11g usb wireless adpter) is having problems.

you cant change the wep key on the upstairs pc unless you change it on the 2wire 1st. the pc wep key has to match whatever the 2wire has it set to. go to the 2wire router settings throught the downstairs pc that is working to be able to see what the wep key is set to, then when you get the key or set a new one enter that key into the upstairs pc.
