Hello Wouter, or Speed boy, I did not use a sharp tool ****! After your posting I lowered the freezer tray to see that I did flatten the raised surface in a few spots pinching the gas routes. So is this thing junk now ?
    Thanks for the imfo.

hA HA NO MAN, YOU CAN HAVE IT REPAIRED,you get a thing on the market called GREEN STICK.

you use that to cover the hole with, but you should have a repair man do that, then a re gas and your done, its not too expensive so go for it..

We have had our Jenn Air refrigerator since about 2002 without problems. Suddenly, the freezer is no longer keeping ice cream hard enough even when set on the coldest setting. Any ideas why?

Can you tell if the compressor is working? Do you hear any clicking in that area? While there are serveral things that could cause this I will mention just the most common.

The defrost assembly has quit working. This results in ice build up behind the freezer rear panel which is where the thermostat is, so it thinks everything is cold enough. So it cuts off cooling until the ice defrosts.

The best way to check. Remove food from freezer section; remove shelves, remove the inside back panel and look for ice build up. If there is an ice build up them you can defrost the unit by either letting it sit with the door open and unplugged or hurry it up with a hair dryer. Once you have it defrosted then plug it back in and turn on. If things freeze up and works write, you will need to order the defrost assembly and replace it the next time the problem comes back.

If your fridge is left open over night and it wasnt closed till morning and the alarm light does stop flashing when it is closed what does that mean?

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

FYI... The door alarm will sound anytime the door is left open for more than 4 minutes.

Per your post... What it means your refrigerator is working normally.

However... there is the possibility of having excess ice build up on the evaporator coils from the door being open all night. If the freezer section starts warming up due to poor airflow you may have to do a manual defrost. You would first notice the lack of ice production or soft ice cream if there were air flow problems due to excess ice on the evaporator coils.

To do a manual defrost all you do is:
1. Unplug the unit
2. Remove freezer contents
3. Use a fan directed at the freezer compartment for just over 2 hours (makes a water mess)
4. Reload the freezer
5. Plug in the refrigerator

Everything should be back to normal in just over 4 hours except ice production that can take up to 8 hours.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Error message on fridge "er ff"

Error code Er FF indicates that the evaporator fan has failed, or at least is not sending a signal to the electronic controls. Open the door and see if the evaporator fan is running inside the freezer compartment. If that fan stops, then no cold air will be sent to the refrigerator compartment and it will warm up. Possible causes include bad motor, bad connection, bad electronics.

I have the same problem. It turned out to be a problem with the doors. When my kids go to get a snack and close the fridge door (read slam the door) the air pressure pops the seal open on the freezer door causing the ice cubes to begin melting. The bottom items stay frozen (warm air rises). It took me a long time to work this out.
Remove the ice maker tray. Remove the ice blob, being careful to put the u-shaped wire ice-level sensing wire thing, in the up position or the system will dump ice and water all over the freezer. Put all back clean and dry and buy a velcro adhesive strip and install it on top of the freezer door to prevent the door from always blowing open.
Hope this helps

Refrigerator

If the ice build up is only on the back panel of the freezer then you have a defrost problem. Most likely a defrost thermostat or control board/timer. If frost build up is around the walls of the freezer then warm air is getting into the freezer. Most likely cause of this would be gaps in or torn door gasket or door alignment. In some cases the door was left cracked open. If gasket and door alignment is ok remove the frost and see if it comes back.
