New to wireless networking, never used before. Purchased a dlin dir615 router for my home and also to be able to connect our new archos 101 tablets at home. I followed the setup disk to connect the router...

Have you updated your firmware on your Archos 101? If you can get to a public wifi hotspot like at a McDonalds or Starbucks you should be able to download the latest firmware (you can force the tablet to check for it by going to Settings - About Device - Firmware Update).
The latest firmware included several fixes for WiFi issues that previous firmware versions struggled with.
I would try that, attempt to connect again at home, and if it's still not working switch your troubleshooting focus to the router itself.

Hi Just got my new archos 101 8gb Spec said 2.2 but it came with2.0.54. on plugging in to PC the upgrade didnt happen so upgraded to 2.1.04 Everything that I have thrown at it works but I dont have...

Betty,
Archos has been saying Flash would be officially available for some time now, but it's still not out. There is a beta version that I'm using, works great for me:
First step to getting Flash working is to go to your settings menu, then Applications, then check the box to allow for Unknown Sources to be installed.
To get a Beta version of Flash working use this link (from your Archos tablet):
http://ge.tt/36fA44X
You should be prompted to install this APK file on your Archos 101 after it's downloaded, this will give you a decent version of Flash (it's taken from a Droid X which has similar hardware to the Archos 101).
The Version number of your Archos 101 firmware is different from the Android Operating System. Version 2.1.8 is the latest Archos firmware as of Feb 28, 2011, this is Android 2.2.1.
To force an update, you actually need to connect the Archos 101 to the internet, not to a PC. Once you're connected to a Wifi network and have access to the internet, go to your Settings, then scroll to the bottom to About Device. On this screen is a Firmware Update option, this will check for and download the latest. Once it's downloaded you'll be prompted to plug your tablet into the charger and restart it to apply the firmware.

Cant watch videos on web on archos 605 wifi

You should be on firmware version 2.1.04 (WMDRMPD:10.1) If connected to your computeer or on WiFi then :- Main Screen Menu Settings Firmware + Plugins and click on.... Online Firmware Update This version of the firmware does allow some videos. Unfortunately if the videos come up with blank screen with a red F9 in the middle this signifies a version of FlashPlayer not yet supported. We just have to wait and see if Archos are still going to support the 605 with more firmware updates or if their hands fare too ull with the new Archos 5 Android.

Archos tv+ has constant red blinking light. Froze

I know this was a while ago, but just in case you never fixed it, or someone else needs help with the same problem, here's a possible solution. I had this same problem recently, but didn't realise it was thanks to Archos's latest firmware being dodgy. I actually took the hard drive out at one point, put it in my PC and backed up all the contents. In fact, you simply press the TV button on the remote when the red light is blinking quickly. That takes you to a recovery menu, where you can attempt to repair or format the drive. If you hook it up a PC via USB, you should also be able to access everything on it to back it up.
Anyway, the repair and format options will tell you to connect your device to a PC, but that's just to load a firmware file onto the hard drive. You can just as easily put this file on a USB pen drive, though, and load it from there. You can get firmware files from http://www.archos.com/support/support_tech/updates.html?country=gb&lang=en&#firm. The latest one is there, but ignore that and install the previous version. Hopefully, that should get the TV+ booting again. It worked for me, anyway.

Archos 605 WiFi Digital Media Player Problem: Archos 605 Recovery code 108

This is generally due to failed firmware updates, etc....here is something to try that has worked for some others:
1. connect the archos to the PC
2. click on repair
3. click on done and wait for a few seconds and you will see the archos as a drive in your windows (be patiant it takes some time)
4. once you see the drive, open it and make sure the System folder is empty, if not delete the file that exists there.
5. download firmware from archos website and put the firmware update file directly on the root of the archos drive
6. click repair again on the archos and done.
I've been told this does not always work on the first attempt, so give it a couple of tries if the first attempt fails.

I have a archos 504 that says recovery code 4.Then it asks if you would like to recover your system. The chocies are no ,repair disk and format disk. no matter what chocie you make nothing happens.

Hi,

Your post/description indicates a possible problem with the firmware. It would seem that the Archos would load but fail to finish and there restarts itself. This could only be possible if somehow the firmware has been corrupted or you tried a firmware upgrade but failed halfway.

There are several versions and you need to determine which one you have.

Things you can try:
1. Do a soft reset. Press on the power button for about 15 seconds;
2. Do a full/hard reset by removing the batteries and pressing the master reset button;
3. Try again the Systems Recovery. You may need also to format the internal HD but that would mean you loose whatever data is inside.

Alternately, you may need to update/re-install the firmware. A more complete and better explained firmware update procedures are here. Briefly, you have to download and save in your PC the ???????.aos file (there are several versions of the firmware. You need to determine which one is appropriate to your model), connect your Archos to the PC, copy/paste (drag & drop) the said file to the Archos device listed in "My Computer" (you may have to overwrite the older copy), disconnect the unit, proceed to System Settings, tap on "Update Firmware". Follow on screen instructions.

If the above is not corrective, am afraid that your unit has been partially bricked. Some have reported serious hardware or firmware problems with the Archos that would require replacement by the manufacturer.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
